2025 World Series of Poker
Steven Snyder was on the button with a raise of 125,000 in front of him before Chih Fan reraised to 275,000 in early position. Snyder then put in 475,000 and Fan turned around to look at the tournament clock before moving all in for 985,000. Snyder snap-called.
Chih Fan: A♦K♥
Steven Snyder: A♣A♥
Around 2,000,000 was at stake as Fan found out the bad news when Snyder turned over his two aces. Fan was already standing up from his seat as the K♠9♠3♦ flop gave him a glimmer of hope with a pair, while the turn was the 2♦. Left with just two outs to stay alive, Fan found one on the K♦ river to make trips and earn the massive double up.
"Wow!" Fan yelled out as he stood statue-like in a state of shock with his mouth agape.
"That's PokerStars. Absolutely golden," tablemate Will Kassouf added. Snyder could only shake his head in frustration as he handed over the pot.
Andres Carrera made it 40,000 from the small blind and [Removed:548] three-bet the big blind to 120,000. Carrera called.
Carrera check-called a bet of 65,000 on the 4♣2♠2♥ flop and then tapped the table again when the 7♠ landed on the turn. [Removed:549] then slid out 190,000, which was enough to earn him the pot as Carrera folded.
Greg Merson limped in from the cutoff with A♣8♥ and Josselin Gardes raised to 80,000 on the button with Q♥9♦. Chris Viox called in the big blind with K♣J♣, then Merson made it 315,000.
That was enough to get the job done as both of Merson's opponents folded, allowing him to take the pot.
Yaichi Fukao opened from late position, seeing Stefanita Fechete jam in his last 350,000 or so from the big blind. Fukao looked him up to put Fechete at risk.
Stefanita Fechete: 9♠9♥
Yaichi Fukao: A♥10♥
Fukao flopped best on 5♦A♣K♥, and Fechete failed to find a nine on the 4♠4♣ runout. Fechete said his goodbyes to his former table, wishing his former opponents good luck.
Fabrice Bigot opened to 45,000 from the button with Q♥Q♦ and Stephen Chidwick defended his big blind holding 10♥7♦.
They saw a flop of K♣J♥10♦, where Chidwick check-called a bet of 25,000 from Bigot to see the A♠ drop on the turn. Chidwick checked and then folded to a bet of 55,000 from Bigot.
Lucas Bandeira moved all in for 550,000 from the button and Wagner Wysotchanski put him at risk in middle position.
Lucas Bandeira: Q♣Q♠
Wagner Wysotchanski: A♥J♣
Wysotchanski went from looking for an ace to hoping for a ten following the K♠Q♦5♥ flop as Bandeira hit a set, while Wysotchanski picked up a straight draw. The turn, though, was the K♥ to improve Bandeira to a full house.
Wysotchanski was already drawing dead, and the 10♥ river was merely a cruel tease as Bandeira doubled up.
Christopher Alcindor had started the day with a mere 12 and a half big blinds and just invested all but one of them to the A♣K♥J♦ flop on which he checked. Andrejs Prost bet 25,000 to cover the last bit of Alcindor, who went into the tank and jokingly asked Prost how much he started with before a forced smile saw him fold and walk to the rail.
In the very next hand on that table, Scott Allacher raised to 50,000 and James Charbonneau three-bet to 140,000 two seats over. Justin Liberto four-bet jammed for 525,000 and Allacher folded, while Charbonneau called rather swiftly.
Justin Liberto: K♣K♦
James Charbonneau: 9♦9♥
The superior pocket pair remained ahead on the Q♣3♣3♠4♣5♠ runout, and Liberto doubled.
Soon after that, Alcindor was eliminated after he couldn't spin up the one big blind and change.
Esther Taylor opened from under the gun with A♦A♣ and Adrien Delmas called from the small blind with K♦8♦.
The flop came 5♦K♠3♠ and Delmas check-called a 100,000 bet from Taylor.
Taylor sized up with a 260,000 bet when checked to on the 2♣ turn and Delmas opted to fold his top pair.
It had been a slow start in the Horseshoe Gold section withPokerNews witnessing six consecutive raise-folds.
Finally, there was action at Table 637 as Justin Pechie opened to 50,000 on the button and Raja Chirumamilla three-bet jammed a stack of 450,000 in the small blind. Sergio Veloso then shoved a stack of 1,565,000 from the big blind to put Pechie to a decision.
"There's no way," he said. "Sorry if I'm nitrolling you."
After hearing that, Veloso immediately called the clock, but the dealer told him enough time hadn't passed. Soon after, Pechie called off with a stack of around 1,200,000.
Raja Chirumamilla: 10♠10♣
Justin Pechie: A♥K♦
Sergio Veloso: 9♣9♦
Veloso took a huge lead as the flop landed 4♠9♥Q♦ to give him a set. He was far from gracious after the big suckout, clapping his hands and taking a lap as the board finished out A♠K♣ to earn him a double knockout.
He returned to the table and shook Pechie's hand, but Chirumamilla wasn't in the mood for niceties and headed to the payout counter.
