Han's Making Another Deep Run

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Yong Han
Yong Han

Yong Han opened to 250,000 from middle position and picked up calls from Ramon Pessoa in the hijack and Frank Flowers on the cutoff.

The K94 flop was checked around, and Han checked again on the K turn. Pessoa took a stab for 190,000, only for Flowers to raise to 575,000. Han responded with a three-bet to 1,200,000, which quickly forced both opponents to fold.

After the hand, Han exchanged some words with Lautaro Guerra, who asked how many times he'd played the Main Event. Han replied it was only his second time, and he's made both count. He finished 59th last year for $160,000 and has now locked up another top-90 finish.

Trost Sees He's Up Against the Nuts But Still Calls

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Craig Trost
Craig Trost

"Would you call it off knowing you're facing the nuts in the Main Event?"

Craig Trost found himself asking this in a heads-up pot against Michael Mizrachi to his left on a board of 678.

Trost had committed nearly all of his stack of 845,000 with just a single 5,000 chip behind. Mizrachi, thinking his opponent was all in, called and tabled the nuts with 109. Trost had a decision: call knowing you are up against the nuts, or fold and be left with less than a tenth of a small blind.

"It's a pretty weird spot," Trost said. "I mean, it's a legitimate decision."

Trost called and his cards joined Mizrachi's on their backs.

Craig Trost: KxKx

Trost was nearly dead but the 6 turn kept him alive as the table braced for what could be a crazy river. But the 8 bricked off and Trost was sent to the rail as Mizrachi's straight held up.

Nines Doing the Job on #634; King-Queen, Not So Much

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Johan Schumacher
Johan Schumacher

Action was picked up with the cards already tabled. Michael Parisi was all-in for roughly 1,200,000 from the small blind and at risk against Johan Schumacher, who had him covered from the hijack.

Michael Parisi: KQAll in
Johan Schumacher: 99

The board ran out 8852A, and Schumacher’s pocket nines held to eliminate Parisi.

On the very next hand, Murly Manokharan shoved for 1,425,000 from under the gun. Bruno Furth re-raised to 3,000,000 from the cutoff, forcing out the blinds.

Murly Manokharan: KQAll in
Bruno Furth: 99

“Oh, repeat,” Manokharan remarked, referencing the previous hand.

The J104 flop gave Manokharan an open-ended straight draw to go with his overs but the 5 turn and 2 river offered no help. Furth raked in the pot and shared a fist bump with Schumacher as Manokharan hit the rail.

Chih Fan
Chih Fan

Stephen Hesse made it 250,000 from early position before Chih Fan three-bet to 1,225,000 from the hijack. Hesse four-bet jammed to put Fan all in, and Fan called for his 2,920,000 total.

Chih Fan: KQ All in
Stephen Hesse: KK

Fan was in terrible shape against the pocket kings of Hesse and was looking for some clubs to stay in contention. The 4A3 flop offered Fan a flush draw. However, the 7 turn and 2 river were red, and Fan was out of the Main Event.

"I'm all in. It's 60-40," Mounir Tajiou shouted out to his rail as he got his last 800,000 in the middle from the button and John Wasnock called in the big blind.

Mounir Tajiou: K7 All in
John Wasnock: A10

Wasnock remained in the lead with his ace on the 52Q2 board, but Tajiou spiked the 7 on the river to make two pair and earn the double up.

Kasic Shows a Bluff; Jackson Doubles

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Sejo Kasic
Sejo Kasic

Eric Afriat opened to 255,000 from early position. Tomas Szwarcberg and Sejo Kasic called from the blinds.

Afriat continued for 240,000 on the KJ6, and was called in both spots.

He then fired out another 800,000 on the 5 turn. Again, Szwarcberg and Kasic called to set up a massive pot.

The 10 completed the board. Szwarcberg checked before Kasic jammed for 4,900,000. Afriat asked for a count, but decided to fold. Szwarcberg also returned his cards to dealer. Kasic was asked to show the bluff, and he complied by tabling A10 for just a pair of tens.

Afriat then jokingly told Kasic "Don't quit your day job," before adding that he folded ace-king.

On the next deal, Benjamin Williams raised from the hijack and called when Ben Jackson jammed for 1,000,000 from the cutoff.

Jackson's queens held to double following the 42K108 runout.

Awful Flop Ends Tenorio's Tournament

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Alen Tenorio
Alen Tenorio

Alen Tenorio made it 250,000 from early position before Murilo Milhomem three-bet to 700,000 from the next seat. When it got back to Tenorio, he four-bet jammed for 4,210,000, and Milhomem called to put him at risk.

Alen Tenorio: AA All in
Murilo Milhomem: KK

Tenorio found himself on the right side of a cooler and was poised to double-up to almost nine million. But, the 66K flop was a disaster, as Milhomem flopped a boat to take a commanding lead and left Tenorio on the brink of elimination. The turn came the 10, and the river the 2. Tenorio wished everyone good luck before making his way out of the tournament area.

Vecino Fills Up on Carrillo; Perfilev Comes to Rue His Fold

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Don Carrillo
Don Carrillo

Dmitrii Perfilev bet 560,000 from under the gun on a flop of 1034 and Juan Carlos Vecino called in the cutoff. Don Carrillo then moved all in for 5,240,000 in the small blind.

Perfilev had around 2,000,000 remaining and tanked for several minutes before Carrillo called the clock. Perfilev eventually folded, but Vecino snap-called.

Don Carrillo: A8 All in
Juan Carlos Vecino: 44

Vecino showed a set, while Carrillo had a flush draw. The K turn was no help to Carrillo, while the K river improved Vecino to a full house and earned him the knockout.

Perfilev shot out of his seat at the sight of the rivered king and let out a loud yell. He later admitted he laid down two kings and would've made quads.

"Why Do They Put Me In These Spots"; Grupp Faced With Another Tough Decision as Bosman Shoves

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Kyle Grupp
Kyle Grupp

Hans Bosman bet 250,000 from the cutoff on a flop of 922 and Kyle Grupp raised to 600,000 in the big blind. Bosman called and the 4 fell on the turn.

Grupp then bet 650,000, but this time Bosman came back with an all-in shove for 3,015,000. Grupp again spent several minutes in the tank, but the clock didn't have to be called this time and he stuck in the chips to put Bosman at risk.

"You're good," Bosman told him, showing AK for just ace-high. Grupp turned over Q9 for two pair and a flush draw, and the J fell on the river to send Bosman to the rail.

"Why do they put me in these spots?" Grupp said as he raked in the pot
