Scott Seiver and Nick Schulman are both just two eliminations away from adding another chapter to their already glittering World Series of Poker careers after advancing to the final three players in Event #8: $1,500 Badugi.
By the time play concludes inside the Paris Ballroom tonight, either Seiver or Schulman could become an eight-time WSOP bracelet winner, joining Shaun Deeb, Michael Mizrachi and Benny Glaser in one of poker's most exclusive clubs.
The tournament attracted 554 entries and generated a prize pool of $735,435. With only three players remaining, each finalist has already secured $62,920, while $94,607 awaits the runner-up and $141,963 is set aside for the champion.
A three-way all-in with more than 5,000,000 chips in the pot had Jorge Dominguez and Barry Shulman in jeopardy, as
Jason Terry had the biggest stack.
Jorge Dominguez: K♥K♦
Barry Shulman: Q♠Q♥
Jason Terry: J♦J♣
Three pocket pairs to the flop, and a couple of them connected in the runout of Q♦K♣2♣8♦9♦. Dominguez was the big winner, as the triple-up gave him new life in the event.
Terry was left with about three big blinds after paying off Dominguez and another 825,000 to Shulman for the side pot.
Anthony Reategui limped in under the gun, and Juan Martin Rodriguez jammed his remaining 775,000 next to act. Michael Steinbacher tanked for a while in the big blind, but eventually folded. Anthony Reategui put in the call.
Juan Martin Rodriguez: 10♠10♥
Anthony Reategui: K♥K♦
The 9♠5♣7♦Q♦2♣ runout was extremely clean for Reategui, who pulled yet another bounty.
Peter Li and Hunter Payne both squeezed out a $100,000 bounty and Kartik Ved took one of the $50,000. That leaves only two bounties with a one at the start of them, and under 240 bounties available in total.
A second 15-minute break of the day has just gotten underway here in the Horseshoe Ballroom. The remaining 137 players will return at 5:35 p.m. local time.
David Heine opened the action with a shove from the cutoff, totalling 230,000. Nitis Udornpim three-bet to 500,000 on the button, sending big blind and Day 1a chip leader Jansen Satparam into the tank. After thinking for a while, he shoved his 3,000,000, and Udornpim practically beat him into the pot.
David Heine: A♠8♠
Jansen Satparam: 10♣10♠
Nitis Udornpim: A♣A♥
Udornpim only had to fade two outs the whole way, as he secured two bounty tokens on the J♥5♦5♥9♦9♣ runout.
Brandon Luckey, Steven Mitchell, and Ashok Kamani all took their shot at pulling the $1,000,000 bounty, but unfortunately for them, and fortunately for the remaining players in the field, they each walked away with just $25,000.
