Negreanu and Foxen Are Crushing the Sickest $600 WSOP Event Ever

Level 34 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu, Alex Foxen

It’s no surprise to see Daniel Negreanu and Alex Foxen run deep at the WSOP... but not usually in a $600 tournament.

With just 31 remaining in Tuesday’s $600 Deepstack Mixed NLH/PLO, the cream has well and truly risen to the top, with some of the game’s biggest names sitting on big stacks at the head of what was a 3,332-entry field.

There’s $204,140 up top and a gold bracelet waiting at the finish line, so plenty to play for, even by high roller standards.

There were over 4,500,000 already in the pot on a board of 510AQ when this hand was picked up.

Christopher Ewing checked before Yaser Al-Keliddar bet 2,500,000 on the button. Ewing made the call from early position.

Ewing checked the A river. Al-Keliddar put together a bet of 5,500,000. Ewing went into the tank.

"Do you want me to call?" said Ewing as he was distressed over the decision. Ewing tanked for several minutes before he called the clock on himself.

As the clock was winding down, Ewing made the fold as Al-Keliddar picked up the pot.

Alen Bakovic

Peter Cross moved all in from under the gun for 2,825,000, Jonas Lauck also shoved from the cutoff for 5,000,000. Alen Bakovic was in the big blind, and stated, "Hell, why not," and called.

James Little stated, "It's a three-way affair."

Peter Cross: A6 All in
Jonas Lauck: KJ All in
Alen Bakovic: A10

The board went well for Bakovic with 44572, and a pair with the ace and the better kicker won. Bakovic raked in a nice pot and eliminated two players.

Angelou Gets Fold From Ripnick

Level 34 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

John Ripnick raised to 1,000,000 on the button and was called by Nikolaos Angelou from the big blind.

Both players checked the J95 flop to bring the 5 turn. Angelou led out for 3,250,000 and was called by Ripnick.

The 3 river did not slow Angelou down. He bet 5,000,000 on fifth street to put Ripnick to a decision. Ripnick opted to fold after giving it some thought to yield the pot to Angelou.

Vornicu Amasses More

Level 34 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Kyle Dishongh open-shoved for 3,675,000 from middle position. Valentin Vornicu woke up with a hand to his left, and rejammed covering the table. All other players got out of the way.

Kyle Dishongh: Q5 All in
Valentin Vornicu: AK

It was relatively smooth for Vornicu, with the 3K6 flop giving him top pair with top kicker. The 5 turn left Dishongh live, but the A river sealed his elimination.

No Greenstein for Tahar

Level 33 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Yibo Song opened the action from late position with a raise to 1,000,000. Said Tahar then moved all in for 5,625,000 from the button, and Daniel Cohen did the same from the big blind. His bet totalled 11,075,000, which covered Song. After about a minute, he made the fold.

Said Tahar: AK All in
Daniel Cohen: KK

Cohen wanted the dealer to wait before dealing the board for a video, but the table noted that Tahar was sweating for his tournament life with the worst of it, and the 4293Q board came forthwith, as Tahar exited with a respectable $40,000 for his efforts.
