Ponomarev Falls to Zhu

Level 18

Omaha Hi-Lo

Yueqi Zhu opened the action with a raise from the hijack. Nikolay Ponomarev called all-in for his final 23,000 on the button, and Jared Hyman defended his big blind.

Hyman check-called a bet from Zhu on the Q35 flop, before action went check-check on the 4 turn. Hyman checked for a third time on the 10 river, then folded after Zhu bet out.

Zhu tabled A653 for two pair and a good low. Ponomarev could only produce top pair with AKQ9 as his tournament ended.

Yu Takes One Down

Level 18

Stud Hi-Lo

Sean Yu: XxXx457A/Xx
Kristan Lord: XxXx/6Q ~ folded on fourth street
Ziya Rahim: XxXx/A2JK ~ folded on sixth street

Kristan Lord completed with his six, and Ziya Rahim, who was sat on his direct left, made it two bets to go. Sean Yu flatted, and Lord called to see fourth.

On fourth street, Rahim continued with a bet, and Yu put in a call. Lord folded, bringing the remaining players to fifth.

Rahim slowed down with a check on fifth street, then called a bet from Yu. He checked again on sixth, then sigh-folded as Yu showed no signs of slowing down.

Behind, Ahead, then Behind Again for Hammers

Level 17

Stud Hi-Lo

Sherry Hammers: A2 / 72XxXx / Xx All in
Hieu Ma: XxXx / 510 - folded on fourth street
Davin Anderson: XxXx / 810 - folded on fourth street
Joseph Hallock: 5x3 / 77XxXx / Xx

Hammers completed and was called by three opponents.

Hallock led fourth with open sevens, Ma folded, Hammers raised all-in for 17,000, Anderson folded, and Hallock called to put her at risk.

Hammers held twos against the sevens of Hallock, while both had three to a low. On fifth, Hammers caught the 2, giving her trips to take the lead. However, Hallock's board ran out 46, giving him a seven-high straight and low.

Hammers could not make a full house as her final two cards were K9, and she was eliminated in brutal fashion.

Balas Sends Theuma Home

Level 17

Stud Hi-Lo

Corel Theuma: XxXx/QKQJ/Xx
Mark Vathanasin: XxXx/8J7 ~ folded on fifth street
Dekel Balas: XxXx/652Q/Xx

Action was picked up on fourth street, where Corel Theuma moved all in for just 2,000. Mark Vathanasin called, then called again when Dekel Balas put out a full bet. Balas bet again when checked to on fifth street, and Vathanasin folded.

Balas tabled 87 in the hole for a made low and an open-ender, whereas Theuma was just hoping to hold for half the pot, with 43 in the hole. Theuma remained in the lead on sixth, before Balas turned over the 9 on seventh for the straight. Theuma was dead, and the 3 he flipped couldn't save him.

Enright's Run Not Over Yet

Level 17

Omaha Hi-Lo

Barbara Enright, who famously made the final table of the 1995 WSOP Main Event, got her final 17,000 into the middle preflop from the small blind, up against Richard Bremer on the button and Andrew Barber in the big blind.

On the 965 flop, Barber check-called a bet from Bremer. He then check-folded on the 3 turn.

Barbara Enright: AK73 All in
Richard Bremer: 9832

Bremer had two pair, while Enright needed to find a club. The river was the 10, giving Enright the flush and the better low as she scooped to stay alive.

Bubble Bursts In Mixed Hi-Lo

Level 17
Jon Turner
Jon Turner

Omaha Hi-Lo

With just one more player to go until the in-the-money phase of the tournament, dealers had been asked to pause the deal at the completion of the hand, with hand-for-hand set to ensue.

Action was picked up on the river, with Jon Turner all in, and tablemates Mark Rubbathan and Donovan Bates still holding live cards. The board read J6982 and all cards were put onto their backs.

Jon Turner: AAQJ All in
Donovan Bates: A942
Mark Rubbathan: Q932

Turner's aces had been cracked, as both of his opponents held two pair. Luckily enough, Ed Smith had busted at another table, and the two shared a min-cash between them, with no hand-for-hand necessary.

Negreanu Soft Bubbles With Trips and Seven-Low

Level 17
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Stud Hi-Lo

Daniel Negreanu: XxXx/7727/Xx All in
Sean Yu: XxXx/Q898/Xx
Stanislav Ivanov: XxXx/5832/Xx

Action was picked up on sixth street, with Daniel Negreanu all in, and Sean Yu and Stanislav Ivanov contesting a side pot. Yu checked, Ivanov bet, and Yu called. The same occurred on seventh, and all cards had to be tabled.

"Wheel," announced Ivanov, tabling A44. "Wheel?" asked Yu, seemingly in disbelief that his two pair with AQ2 was no good. The side pot was shipped to Ivanov.

Negreanu now needed to fill up to stay alive and chopped the pot, as he turned over A4. He went for the squeeze, and determined his card was a low spade. Knowing the deuce and the three were face up, he rooted for the four. Unfortunately for Dnegs, he flipped the 5, making a low with trip sevens, and still going home two shy of the money.

Lonis Survives Again

Level 17

Stud Hi-Lo

Jesse Lonis: 85 / 63QXx / Xx All in
Sean Yu: 95 / 945Xx / Xx
Stanislav Ivanov: XxXx / 72K - folded on fifth street

Action picked up on fifth with Lonis all-in for crumbs again. Ivanov check-folded to a bet from Yu on the side pot.

Lonis had already made a flush on fifth, while Yu had two pair. On sixth, Yu caught the 4 to give himself three pairs and additional boat-outs, but his final card was the 3 and Lonis scooped to survive again.
