Miracle Runner-Runner Saves Meltzer

Level 34 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Jordan Meltzer
Jordan Meltzer

After being left with dust after the previous clash, Jordan Meltzer got himself involved in a hand again. Steven Hinkle raised to 800,000 from early position and Meltzer three-bet shoved on the button for 1,575,000.

Yifu He four-bet to 3,000,000 from the big blind, and Hinkle reluctantly folded after some thought.

Steven Hinkle: AK

The K82 flop all but ended it for Meltzer, who stood up from his chair and started saying his goodbyes. Miraculously, the J turn and J river brought the improbable runner-runner for him to survive, prompting a collective "whoa" from the table.

"Your Mistake Saved Me"

Level 34 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Antony Rubin
Antony Rubin

A.J. Allee limped from middle position before Antony Rubin followed with a limp from the cutoff. Seiji Sasaki wanted to play for more and raised to 1,850,000 on the button. Allee called, and Rubin called to keep the pot three-handed.

The 4510 flop led to a pair of checks over to Sasaki, who went all-in for 12,850,000 in response.

Allee folded after some thought before Antony Rubin put in his remaining 1,500,000 to be at risk.

Antony Rubin: A7All in
Seiji Sasaki: QQ

The payout desk appeared to be in the near future for Rubin, but the turn had other plans as the A came down, which prompted Rubin to stand up from his seat in exclamation.

The 9 river completed the board, and Rubin survived.

"I should have raised preflop," said Allee, who claimed to have ace-king.

"Your mistake saved me," replied Rubin as he collected the chips.

Meltzer Falls into the Trap

Level 34 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Seiji Sasaki
Seiji Sasaki

Seiji Sasaki limped from the small blind, and Jordan Meltzer raised to around 1,200,000 from the big blind. Sasaki called, and the players went heads-up to the 2J9 flop.

Sasaki checked, Meltzer bet 1,400,000, and Sasaki took around a minute before making the call.

The 8 turn saw Sasaki check and Meltzer also took some time to consider his options before moving all in for 6,275,000, covering Sasaki's remaining 4,500,000. Sasaki snap-called and tabled his straight, which he had made on the turn. Meltzer also turned over his kings, but after looking at Sasaki's hand, he swiftly picked them up and threw them across the table and into the muck.

Seiji Sasaki: Q10All in
Jordan Meltzer: KK

Meltzer was left with just a handful of big blinds to play with, whereas Sasaki managed to climb back to the top of the counts.

Moscati Bids Farewell to Carey

Level 34 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Irene Carey
Irene Carey

Vincent Moscati opened to 875,000 from middle position before Irene Carey re-raised to 2,000,000 from the hijack, leaving only 325,000 behind.

Moscati called to take a flop of 8J3. Moscati put out enough to put Carey all-in.

"Can I tank for 47 minutes?" said Carey in jest before she put in the call to be at risk.

Irene Carey: A8All in
Vincent Moscati: KK

Carey was in trouble against the pocket kings of Moscati, but still had some outs: an eight or an ace.

Neither came on the 6 turn or the Q river as Moscati eliminated Carey from contention shortly after doubling through her.

Carey Clashes With Moscati

Level 34 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Irene Carey
Irene Carey

Karim Ghozlani raised to 600,000 in the cutoff and Vincent Moscati three-bet to 2,000,000 on the button. Irene Carey four-bet shoved all in from the small blind. Ghozlani folded and Moscati called all in for almost 6,000,000 total.

Vincent Moscati: AK All in
Irene Carey: A5

Carey's ace-five was dominated by Moscati and the 10644Q rundown didn't change that. Moscati, a very accomplished ten-time WSOP circuit ring winner, has not won a bracelet yet. With the double, he finds himself among the top stacks in the room to try and change that.

"Gotta Win The Flips"

Level 33 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Robert Kuhn
Robert Kuhn

Jed Friedman opened to 600,000 from the cutoff, and action folded around to Rob Kuhn in the big blind. Kuhn moved all in for his remaining 8,025,000, and action went back to Friedman.

Friedman went into the tank and took around 2 minutes to make a decision. Meanwhile, Kuhn was talking to the table, saying, "It's good, if he calls I win, if he folds I win."

Friedman remarked towards the end of his tank, "I am leaning towards going with it..." He eventually moved in a stack to call and cover Kuhn and tabled his cards.

Rob Kuhn: AQAll in
Jed Friedman: 77

Kuhn was behind and needed to hit the board to stay in the tournament, but he missed on the K46 flop. The J turn brought Kuhn closer with the straight draw, but the 3 river was no help, and he was eliminated in 35th place.

He stood from the table and said, "Gotta win the flips," as he walked from the tournament area.
