Piccioli Goes All-in and Loses

Level 26 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Bryan Piccioli
Bryan Piccioli

Play was already underway with Bryan Piccioli in cutoff and Dejan Kaladjurdjevic on the button with a 800,000 pot beside a 45A.

Piccioli check-called Kaladjurdjevic's 250,000 bet taking them to the turn.

The 8 turn fell and after action was passed to him, Kaladjurdjevic fired 625,000 sending Piccioli to the tank. After a few seconds, Piccioli folded his hand and asked Kaladjurdjevic if he had it. Kaladjurdjevic answered in the negative, prompting Piccioli to say, "I should have shoved on you."

On the very next hand, in hijack, Picioli opened with 175,000 and when action went to the small blind, Paulina Loeliger asked how much Piccioli started with. After she was given an answer she announced all-in.

With action back to him, Piccioli called for his tournament life.

Bryan Piccioli: A9 All in
Paulina Loeliger: KJ

Piccioli was ahead with ace-high but Loeliger's outs increased on the 8108 which gave her a flush draw. The A fell which gave Piccioli a pair but completed Loeliger's flush. The Q river was a formality.

Who Are the Unluckiest Heads-Up Players in WSOP History?

Level 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Ren Lin x Chino Rheem
Ren Lin x Chino Rheem

Shaun Deeb came up one spot short yet again for a 2026 World Series of Poker bracelet, falling to Joey Couden in Event #52: $3,000 Nine Game Mix after a grueling three-and-a-half-hour heads-up battle. The defeat was Deeb's ninth in a bracelet match and dropped his all-time heads-up record to 8-9.

The latest near miss added to a frustrating run of runner-up finishes for the eight-time bracelet winner. Deeb had already finished second twice at WSOP Europe earlier this year to take an early lead in the Player of the Year race, but after arriving in Las Vegas with just one cash through the opening weeks of the series, another silver medal may prove crucial as he chases back-to-back POY titles.

As painful as Deeb's 8-9 record may be, it doesn't rank among the unluckiest in WSOP history. Several poker crushers have reached heads-up for a bracelet time and again, only to walk away empty-handed. Here are the players with the most WSOP runner-up finishes without ever sealing the deal.

Level 25 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Joey Weissman raised to 275,000 on the button, holding back a single, 5,000 chip.

Ying Zhu, assuming Weissman was all-in, said call, and turned her cards over. weissman did likewise, bringing his additional chip into the pot.

Joey Weissman: 99All in
Ying Zhu: A8

Weissman's nine held through a runout of 4Q529, giving him a set on the river and the table's third double-up off Zhu in the last orbit.

When told that Weissman had 280,000 instead of 275, Zhu explained that she had thought he was all-in, but it would have played out the same way.

The dealer spread the AJ4 flop, and Mhatre continued for 325,000. Again, Hoefer called.
