Just after France scored a goal to take a 2-0 lead over Sweden, Paulius Vaitiekunas was staring at the screen during a hand and someone at the table asked, "Is France winning?"

"Winning the World Cup, winning the World Series (of Poker), winning food," Vaitiekunas said.

"How are they winning food?" Angelina Rich said.

"Uh, French cuisine," replied Vaitiekunas, who is from Lithuania.

Frenchman Bruno Lopes has the biggest stack at the table and is among the chip leaders in the event.

Rich Doubles Blind Versus Blind

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Action folded around to Angelina Rich in the small blind, who raised to 230,000, leaving herself with 25,000 back. Paulius Vaitiekunas in the big blind moved all in to put Rich at risk, who went into the tank looking for a potential pay jump. Eventually, a player from another table called the clock, prompting Rich to commit the rest of her stack.

Angelina Rich: K6 All in
Paulius Vaitiekunas: Q10

The flop came 853 with Rich still in the lead with king-high. Vaitiekunas picked up additional outs with a gutshot on the 9 turn, but the 8 river was safe for Rich's king-high, securing her the double-up.

Peeks' Pocket Jacks Help Him Double

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Roeland Peeks raised to 120,000 from the small blind, and Xiaoyao Ma shoved from the big blind, covering Peeks. Peeks had around 970,000 in his stack to start the hand and, with the tournament on a pay jump, used plenty of his time banks before making the call.

Xiaoyao Ma: A9

Peeks' pocket jacks moved even further in front on the 79J flop, improving to top set.

The 10 turn gave Ma some chop outs, but none of them materialized on the Q river, and Peeks doubled to over two million chips.

The flop came 587 and it checked around to Eisen, who bet 90,000. Kyte called, Peeks folded, and Rezaei decided to stick around.

The turn brought the 8 and it checked to Eisen again, who bet 155,000. Kyte and Rezaei called once more.

Action checked through on the Q river and Kyte was the first to table his cards with 76. Rezaei mucked and Eisen turned over 98 for trip eights.

"Thank God a nine didn't come," said Kyte as the pot was pushed Eisen's way.
