Ferguson Stays Alive

Chris Ferguson shipped all in for his last 640,000 in middle position. Danny Tang asked for a count from the big blind and gave it some thought before making the call.

Chin Wei Lim raised to 340,000 from the button and Kahle Burns defended his big blind.

The flop came {3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, Burns checked, Lim continued with a bet of 230,000. Burns raised almost his whole stack, leaving 5,000 behind. Lim put him all-in and Burns called for around 1,000,000.

Burns had flopped a pair of deuces while Lim was ahead with the higher pocket pair of jacks.

The turn brought them the {j-Hearts} which now gave Lim a set and leave Burns drawing dead.

The river completed the board with the {3-Clubs} as a formality as Burns was eliminated before the bubble.

Filatov Claims Another Victim

Anatoly Filatov opened to 335,000 in the hijack and Shaun Deeb three-bet to 1,135,000 on the button. The blinds folded and Filatov called to go heads-up to a flop of {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Spades}. Filatov checked to Deeb who tossed in a bet only to have Filatov check-raise all in. Deeb called off his stack of around 5,300,000 and the cards were face up.

Deeb was in trouble after Filatov flopped trip tens and the {9-Spades} on the turn was not going to help him. The {9-Clubs} hit the river and Filatov improved to a full house to eliminate Deeb.

Thorel Holds for a Double Up

Kahle Burns opened to 350,000 in middle position and Phil Ivey three-bet to 1,100,000 in the hijack. Jean-Noel Thorel flat-called on the button and Burns came along as well. The flop came {j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and the action checked to Thorel who bet 1,500,000. Burns check-raised all in for 9,345,000 which got Ivey to fold. Thorel thought for a brief moment before making the call.

Burns was looking for a flush to complete and the {3-Hearts} on the turn gave him a straight draw as well. The {3-Spades} paired the board on the river and Thorel doubled up for 8,020,000.
