Floyd Exposes Cards Early

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

The board read {8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Joseph Floyd had bet 50,000 in the big blind with Robert Cowen in the tank in the cutoff. After a while, Cowen decided to raise to 160,000 and Floyd quickly revealed the {q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. When pointed out that Cowen had raised, Floyd quickly closed his cards again but the floor was called for a ruling.

The dealer explained the situation to the floor and the floor told Floyd that his cards had to stay exposed and that Floyd had the option. Floyd took some more time with the flopped trip eights and then flicked in a chip for the call. Cowen didn't look too happy and showed he held {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for two pair for Floyd to scoop the pot.
