Zapp Gets Frisky with Suite Connectors

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Robert Zapp raised to 3,500 in early position and Zhong Chen ripped all in for a fresh stack of 25,000 after just sitting down at the table. It folded back to Zapp who gave it some thought before making the call.

Zhong Chen: {a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}
Robert Zapp: {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

The flop of {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} left Chen in the lead with his ace-high. The {7-Clubs} on the turn gave Zapp a straight draw to go along with his two live cards. It was the {4-Diamonds} on the river that made Zapp's straight and Chen was quickly eliminated.

Gompers Cracks Aces

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

After a couple of preflop raises, Jan Gompers and Stribor Gruicic got all of their chips in the middle with Gompers at risk for 22,000. Gompers turned over {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} but found himself up against the {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} of Gruicic.

The flop came {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} with the queen in the window to give Gompers a set of queens. The {6-Diamonds} on the turn and the {5-Spades} on the river did not improve Gruicic who slid a double up across the table.
