O'Dwyer Wins WPTDS Amsterdam High Roller; Schulze Ships Main Event
From March 23 to 31, Holland Casino Amsterdam played host to the popular WPTDeepStacks series, one of the Global Poker Awards nominees for Mid-Major Tour/Circuit of the Year. It was the fifth time the WPT was held in Amsterdam, and it was a successful, record-breaking stop for the Dutch casino with a new attendance record set in the Main Event.
2019 WPTDS Amsterdam €2,200 High Roller
The €2,200 High Roller, played March 30 and 31, was won by Steve O'Dwyer for €72,905 ($81,965.) It was yet another high roller victory for the American/Irishman living in Amsterdam, who topped a live event for the 23rd time in his career, according to The Hendon Mob. It was also the second time O'Dwyer was victorious in the Dutch casino after winning the €25,500 Super High Roller at the 2018 Master Classics of Poker last November.
O'Dwyer defeated a final table full of Dutch players en route to victory, including Noah Boeken, Paul Berende, and David Boyaciyan. Heads-up, O'Dwyer defeated Marcel Goldenbelt to claim the first-place prize. Goldenbelt started with a 2:1 chip lead, but on an A♦4♥K♥10♠A♠ board, O'Dwyer picked off Goldenbelt's J♦9♠ bluff with K♦6♦. Goldenbelt's final chips went in with queen-nine against O'Dwyer's ace-eight suited, and after five blanks, the tournament was over. Goldenbelt received €46,120 for his runner-up finish.

2019 WPTDS Amsterdam €1,200 Main Event
A record-breaking 507 entries were made in the WPTDS Amsterdam €1,200 Main Event, making it the biggest iteration of the stop yet. 64 players finished in the money, including notables such as Tobias Peters, Ioannis Angelou-Konstas, Mateusz Moolhuizen, and Dutch bracelet winner Marcel Vonk
The eventual champion after four days was to go home with a six-figure prize of €104,304, and it was Felix Schulze of Germany who claimed top honor. Schulze defeated France's Emrah Cakmak heads-up, who had to settle for €69,525. Schulze won the final hand when a classic coin flip with pocket tens against ace-king landed his way.
The biggest name at the final table was American Joey Weissman, who saw a deep run come to an end in third place after a failed bluff attempt against Cakmak.
