Twice the Toothpick

Antonis "Toothpick Tony" Kambouroglou has picked his way out of a tough spot after doubling through.

The man famous for chewing on toothpicks while playing raised preflop and got a caller. They took a {9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{j-Hearts} flop and Kambouroglou led out with an all in bet of 5,500. The opponent called and presented {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for top pair and a flush draw. Kambouroglou's {A-Spades}{a-Diamonds} would need to dodge a fair number of outs to stay alive.

But the turn {A-Clubs} was a good card for Toothpick giving him a set.

Toothpick moves up to about 18,000.

"Had to call"

Bruno Portaro loves it when we write up his "creative" plays, but following the words of tablemate Warwick Mirzikinian who said to us, "Make sure you get how bad he plays...", we had to oblige.

Catching the action on a flop of {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, Portaro checked and his opponent fired 1,750. Portaro check-raised to 5,000 and his opponent moved all in for a total of 7,200. Portaro cringed but knew he was priced into call.

His opponent flipped {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} as Portaro sheepishly revealed {K-Hearts}{3-Spades} for just king-high. Portaro was looking for a king but the {A-Hearts} turn and {8-Hearts} river was just as sweet as Portaro made a running flush to crack his opponent's overpair.

Portaro moves up to 39,000.

De Cesare's Done for the Day

Amanda De Cesare is no more after moving the last of her money into the middle preflop with {k-Spades}{j-Spades} after several players limped in, only to see Rob Stewart isolate the rest of the field, shoving with {a-?}{9-?} (suited).

Stewart hit an ace on the flop and the rest, as they say, was history.

Jones' Lucky Sevens

After a short stack shoved, Ben Delaney pushed all-in behind before Iwan Jones decided to call all-in for his last 10,700.

Short Stack: {7-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}
Delaney: {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}
Jones: {7-Hearts} {7-Spades}

The board came out {9-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {6-Clubs} {9-Clubs} meaning Jones and the short stack split the main pot while Jones picked up a sizeable side pot.

Jones is up to 19,000 while Delaney drops to 25,000.

De Cesare in Disarray

Amanda De Cesare is on a meagre 3,500 in chips after a big pot developed between her and Luke McLean.

On a flop that read {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, McLean checked to De Cesare who led out for 1,500. McLean called and the dealer produced the {7-Diamonds} on the turn.

McLean then check-raised all in after De Cesare fired out a shell worth 3,000. "I recommend you fold," McLean said to her.

De Cesare went deep into the tank before eventually letting her hand go - McLean showed {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. He's now on 45,000 in chips.

McLean Doubles Up

Luke McLean raised preflop to 1,600 before an opponent in late position reraised to 3,200. McLean called and they saw a flop that read {6-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, which they both checked.

On the turn of the {j-Hearts}, McLean led out for 1,600 before the opponent made it 6,000 to go. McLean shipped the rest of his stack in and his opponent called.

McLean: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Opponent: {a-?}{j-Diamonds}

The river {2-Diamonds} helped noone and McLean doubled through - he's currently on 36,000 in chips.

Nelson No More

Lee Nelson
Lee Nelson
There will be no final table for Lee "Final Table" Nelson after he recently saw his last remaining chips disappear. Michael Spilkin was the man responsible in the big blind as he called Nelson's preflop shove from the cutoff position.

Nelson: {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Spilkin: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{8-Clubs} to give Spilkin the pot to increase his stack to 45,000 as Nelson departs.
