Kazuhiko Yotsushika
Kazuhiko Yotsushika

A player opened to 1,300 and 2017 Aussie Millions Opening Event winner Rob Raymond called. Kazuhiko Yotsushika, who finished 12th in the $25,000 Challenge earlier in the festival, moved all in for 5,000. It folded back to the initial raiser, who folded, and Raymond made the call.

Rob Raymond: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Kazuhiko Yotsushika: {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}

The board ran out {9-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Yotsushika was sent to the rail.

Davies Silences O'Grady

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Scott Davies opened the action with a raise to 1,200 from the hijack and the cutoff as well as Michael O'Grady in the big blind called. All three players checked the {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop while O'Grady asked "are you looking for a back door flush draw?" without getting any answer from either player.

The {10-Diamonds} fell on the turn and O'Grady checked once more, while the bet of Davies for 1,700 resulted in two calls. Three-way to the {10-Clubs} river, O'Grady checked the third street in a row and Davies bet 4,300. The cutoff quickly folded while O'Grady called after brief consideration. Davies flashed {K-Hearts}{10-Spades} for trips tens and a visibly frustrated O'Grady mucked the {A-Spades}. Normally O'Grady is a grandmaster of table chat, but suddenly fell silent after being reduced to the short stack once again.

Grafton Dropping Bombs

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Sam Grafton
Sam Grafton

In a button against big blind confrontation, Kahle Burns bet 1,200 on a {3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop. Sam Grafton check-raised to 4,600 and Burns called in position.

With the {7-Spades} pairing the board on the turn, Grafton dropped a bomb worth 17,000 within mere seconds. Burns gave it around a minute of thought before sliding in a call.

The {A-Spades} on the river completed the board. Grafton needed just five seconds to come up with a hefty bet of 38,000, which sent Burns deep in the tank. First, he seized up Grafton, who stared stoically in front of him. Burns then talked up Grafton to get some information, Grafton replied and the two exchanged some banter.

After three minutes, the Australian caved in and folded his hand to send the pot over to Grafton.

O'Grady No More; Broom Brushes Christner

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
James Broom
James Broom

A quick look in the corner section of the upper tournament area revealed an open seat that formerly belonged to Michael O'Grady and the Aussie had been called by an opponent with {Q-}{10-} on a seven-high flop as per Scott Davies and other players at the table. O'Grady had pocket treys and a queen appeared right away on the turn.

Christian Christner lost a decent chunk of his stack when paying off the flopped straight of his table neighbour James "Jabba" Broom, who held {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} with the flop showing {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, while Lukas Byrns has reappeared at a different table.

Alner Doubles Through Harder

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Picking up the action on the {K-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop, Tom Alner checked out of the big blind and Christian Harder bet 1,100 out of middle position. Alner called and checked again the {8-Diamonds} turn before calling a second barrel worth 2,600.

The {10-Clubs} river brought a check from Alner and Harder bet 15,000, which was more than enough to cover the remaining chips of his opponent. Alner called within a second and Harder turned over {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for a set, which Alner had beat with {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for a straight.

Other notables and big stacks on the table include Tyron Krost, Jan Pettersson and David Tam, and their stack sizes in the penultimate level of the day can be found below.

"Pretty Sick" Hand Sees Timoshenko Pay Graner Big

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Stephen Graner
Stephen Graner

Four players checked to Stephen Graner on {5-Hearts}{k-Spades}{5-Clubs} and he bet 2,600 in the cutoff. Big blind Yevgeniy Timoshenko called and everyone else folded. The turn was a {2-Hearts} and Graner bet 7,500. Again, Timoshenko called. The river: {9-Clubs}. Timoshenko checked and faced a big bet of 23,000. He took a deep breath.

"That's pretty sick," he said.

Nonetheless, he called in short order but could not beat the {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} shown down by Graner.
