Gill Waxes Lyrical After Lodge Flop Raise

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Oliver Gill
Oliver Gill

Oliver Gill opened to 900 and got called in two spots by Billy 'The Croc' Argyros and Harry Lodge on the button. Gill continued for 2,100 on a {9-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop and Argyros folded before Lodge raised to 5,800.

"I'm trying to think of any hands that raise this flop out of all the hands," said Gill to Lodge after thinking for 30 seconds or so.

"Sounds to me that you're folding," replied Lodge.

"It sounds to me that I'm folding, but folding here is so bad," said Gill.

He thought a while longer.

"I mean it'd be pretty sick if I was to raise you here, I've done that before," said Gill.

"I don't see it happening," said Lodge, before Gill folded.

"Nittiest fold I've done in a long time," said Gill. "If I told you I folded aces, would you believe me?"

Cox Doubles Through Karita

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

On a four-way flop of {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, the action checked to Dean Cox and he bet 1,900. Amanda De Cesare called on the button and Shoshiro Karita check-raised out of the small blind, making it 5,300 to go. Cox shoved for the last 10,850 and De Cesare folded, Karita called.

Dean Cox: {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Shoshiro Karita: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Yazbeck had some outs and immediately improved with the {K-Spades} turn. The river was the blank {4-Hearts} and that secured the double for Yazbeck.

Dinner Break; 1996 Champion Nelson Still In, Stuer Leads

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Former Champion Lee Nelson holds the record for most Aussie Millions final tables
Former Champion Lee Nelson holds the record for most Aussie Millions final tables

From the 264 players who have entered Day 1b so far, the 204 remaining players in the 2019 Aussie Millions Main Event are going on their 75-minute dinner break after four levels of action.

By comparison, last year's Day 1b attracted 196 entrants. Day 1a yesterday had a slight year-on-year fall in numbers, but with today's field a bumper one, the 2019 Aussie Millions Main Event is already ahead of where it was at the same stage last year.

Just like yesterday, plenty of big names have jumped into the field, including former champions Lee Nelson and Tyron Krost, the latter of which fell by the wayside earlier today.

Nelson already has one final table at this year's Aussie Millions, finishing sixth for AU$8,505 in the H.O.R.S.E. and he is joined in the Day 1b field by 2019 Six Max champion Bart Lybaert, Oliver Gill, Sarah Bilney, Scott Davies were also in attendance, as well as Chino Rheem.

Sadly for the AU$25,000 Challenge third-place finisher Rheem, he lasted just two hands before busting from the tournament.

Julian Stuer
Julian Stuer holds a big stack in the 2019 Aussie Millions Main Event

An early big stack was Clinton Taylor, but Julian Stuer jumped over 100,000 in chips after doubling through a player with pocket aces after flopping a set of sevens.

With three more levels after the dinner break, stay tuned to PokerNews for all the live updates as players bag up for Day 2.

Lew Chips Up With Kings

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

With already 13,000 in the middle and the flop showing {J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}, Randy Lew bet 4,000 in the small blind and was called by Andrew Chen in the cutoff. It would be the last chips that both players invested in the hand, as the {7-Hearts} turn and {4-Diamonds} river brought no betting action.

Lew turned over the {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} for kings and sevens, and that won the pot.

Lampropulos Back Over Starting

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

On a {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop, two players checked to Maria Lampropulos who bet 2,000. One of them called and the turn was the {a-Spades}.

The pair checked and the river was the {7-Spades}. It checked to Lampropulos again who bet 6,000, which elicited a quick fold from her opponent.

Lampropulos is now back over starting stack with twenty minutes before the dinner break.

Yan Eliminates a Player

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

On a {2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop one player bet 7,500 and Haibin Yan raised to 15,000. The initial player re-raised all in for around 30,000 and Yan snap-called.

All-in Player: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Yan: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

The all-in player was drawing dead and the river was the {q-Clubs}. Yam sent a player to the rail and moved up to 100,000 in chips.
