Hallaert Folds on the Flop

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Nino Ullmann raised to 800 from early position and Kenny Hallaert flatted in the hijack. Chip Jett reraised to 3,500 out of the big blind, getting rid of Ullmann. Hallaert, however, stuck around, calling.

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and Jett continued for 5,500. Hallaert didn't connect enough with the board to continue and he released his hand.

Yaroshevskyy Gets There and Leads

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Big blind Igor Yaroshevskyy bet into a field of three opponents with 1,400 on a board of {j-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Daniel Neilson made it 5,100 in early position and the others folded. Yaroshevskyy peeled and then came out betting with 10,000 on the {8-Hearts} river.

Neilson called but couldn't beat {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a flush.

Former Champ Engel Sent to the Rail by Quoss

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

Fabian Quoss checked from the big blind with {10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} on the table and Ari Engel fired 8,500 from the hijack. Quoss moved forward enough chips to cover Engel's remaining stack and the 2016 champ needed only about 20 seconds to find the call button.

Unfortunately for Engel, his flopped bottom set with {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades} wasn't good enough as Quoss rivered a straight with {8-Spades}{6-Spades}.

Snell Folds to "Biggest Nit"

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

It looked like a raising war followed a {5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop as Egor Bulychev had 9,600 in front of him in middle position and was facing a raise to 16,000 from Jo Snell in the big blind. Bulychev tanked several minutes and then moved in for about 50,000.

Snell sighed and folded after about a minute of thought, preserving his last 24,000.

"He's the biggest nit at the table," Snell explained.

River Costs Hachem Half of the Pot

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Joe Hachem raised in the cutoff and the player in the big blind defended with a call. Both players checked the {q-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop and a fast action followed on the {4-Clubs} turn. The big blind led out 1,000 and called for around 5,000 when Hachem put him at risk. Hachem had the better of it with {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} against {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}, but the {6-Spades} river discarded his kicker and the pot ended up chopped.

Becker Turns Bingo to Double Through Hallaert

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Under the gun, Kenny Hallaert checked to Johannes Becker on his left, with the board showing {4-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Becker fired 2,000 into about 4,500 and Hallaert called.

The river came {9-Spades} and Hallaert checked again. Becker cut out a bet of 7,100, leaving himself with shrapnel. Hallaert slid forward a tower of chips to cover Becker's 7,425 and Becker immediately called off.

Hallaert had flopped a set with {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, but Becker turned a higher set with {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} to pull ahead, and consequently double, in the inevitable cooler.

Chung's Check-Raise Fails

Level 4 : 150/300, 300 ante

Under the gun, Tim Chung checked the {a-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} turn, letting Yuan Li bet 1,700 from the button. Chung check-raised to 5,600 and Li called.

They both quickly checked the {8-Diamonds} river and Chung tabled {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, knowing he wasn't going to get any piece of the pot. Li showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for the winner.
