Obara Loses to Queens

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Jun Obara checked to his opponent on a {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and then snap-called a 4,200-bet from late position. Both players tapped the felt on the {7-Hearts} river and Obara's opponent tabled {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. Obara's hand couldn't compete with that.

Thomas Binks Set to Crack Aces

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Russell Thomas made it 600 in early position and a player in the small blind flatted before his neighbor squeezed to 3,200. Only Thomas called the three-bet.

Thomas' opponent fired three shells through the {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs} board and Thomas called 3,000 on the flop and 7,000 on the turn. Then he faced a 6,200-bet on the river, and he shoved to put his opponent at risk. The other player quickly called but his {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} were no match to Thomas' {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

Check-Raises Galore in Strange Hand

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

The pre-flop action was simple, with Louis Luo opening to 500 and getting calls from Bruno Portaro on the button and Sam Grafton in the cutoff.

Then the action started. Grafton checked the {j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} flop to Luo who continued for 1,000. Portaro flat-called and Grafton then check-raised to 3,000, getting to callers.

Grafton opted to check the {10-Clubs} turn, and Lou also checked. Portaro bet 6,500 and Grafton flat-called. Luo check-raised to 17,000 and Portaro thought.

After only a minute or so, Grafton called the clock and a perplexed Portaro wrestled with his decision before folding. Grafton also quickly folded and Luo took down the pot.

Jetten Busts One

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Peter Jetten
Peter Jetten

Peter Jetten battled with his table neighbor in a small blind versus button hand that brought a flop of {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{9-Spades} on which the button aimed to move all-in but just slid forward a stack of black T-100 chips without saying anything. He then string-bet all-in after the {5-Clubs} turn and Jetten quickly looked him up.

Button: {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Peter Jetten: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Only a nine could save the player on the button, and the river was a blank {8-Clubs} to vault Jetten even higher on the leaderboard.

Shih Doubles Through Teng

Level 4 : 150/300, 300 ante

Kenny Shih made it 800 in early position and Chee Teng three-bet to 2,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to Shih who moved all in for 5,550. Teng reluctantly called and the cards were turned up.

Shih: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Teng: {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}

Shih faded Teng's two-outer on the {2-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} runout and doubled up.

Obara Finds a Double Against Aces

Level 4 : 150/300, 300 ante

In what seemed to be a preflop four-bet pot, a player in the small blind tangled with Jun Obara in middle position. Both players checked the {q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop and the small blind announced all in when the {5-Spades} hit the turn. Obara snapped him off for his last 11,100.

"You have kings?" Obara's opponent said, turning up aces.

But Obara had an even better hand, showing {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a flopped straight.

"Oh," the other player reacted, knowing he was drawing dead. Obara scored a double, vaulting back over starting stack.

Muehloecker Wins Small Pot

Level 4 : 150/300, 300 ante

Jack Salter raised to 750 and picked up one caller in the cutoff. Thomas Muehloecker in the small blind three-bet to 3,300 and Salter folded, the cutoff called. On a flop of {k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Salter continued for 2,400 and that shut down all further resistance.
