Massive Pot Alert

Castell-ouch-io
Castell-ouch-io
Sergio Castellucio opened for 21,000, only for entertaining Swede Samer Rahman to make it 100,500 to go. Folds all round the table back to Castellucio, who pushed for an additional 220,000. A call, and with 640,000 in the middle making it the biggest pot of the tournament so far, it was one almighty classic coinflip.

Castellucio: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}
Rahman: {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}

Board: {J-Spades} {10-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {7-Spades}

With a sigh, Castellucio took his leave. Rahman meanwhile moved on up the leader board, with almost 1.1 million in chips.

Cirstea Pays Off Robinson

David Robinson opened with a raise to 17,000. Ciprian Cirstea called in the next seat and then Samer Rahman called on the button. The three players saw the flop come down {K-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}.

Robinson fired a continuation bet of 25,000. Cirstea seemed unpleased with the bet and looked in pain while he mulled over the decision. Rahman looked very bored while waiting for his action, staring at the ceiling as if he had already mucked his hand. After two minutes, Cirstea made the call and Rahman quickly folded.

The turn brought the {K-Hearts} and Robinson didn't flinch for about 20 seconds before checking with a few taps of his finger. Cirstea quickly checked behind.

The river was the {5-Spades} and again Robinson took his time before moving. He counted out a bet of 55,000 and slid it into the middle. Cirstea put his own 55,000 in immediately after.

Robinson tabled {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} and Cirstea flung his cards into the muck, yelling in a language we could not understand. Robinson is up to 405,000.

Smith Eliminates Acin

After Asa Smith raised to 15,500 from under the gun, Luis Ramon Rufas Acin moved all in for approximately 100,000 from middle position. Action folded back around to Smith and he made the call.

Acin tabled {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}, but was dominated by Smith's {A-Spades} {K-Spades}. The board ran out {Q-Hearts} {10-Spades} {3-Spades} {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} and Acin was eliminated after Smith's flush was the winning hand.

Ciprian Cirstea questioned why Acin was eliminated, thinking that both players should chop with broadway straights. David Robinson leaned and over and said, "No, he had a flush." pointing to Smith. "Flushes beat straights in this game." he joked.

Things Get Better for Bueno as Van Den Berg Heads Home

Back in happier days, when these two were still in the tournament.
Back in happier days, when these two were still in the tournament.
Patrick Bueno, perhaps still steaming a little after losing a big hand moments earlier, raised from the cutoff, only for Thierry van den Berg to push from the small blind for another 100,000 or so. After some brief consideration of the matter, Bueno called.

Bueno: {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades}
van den Berg: {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}

Board: {Q-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {K-Spades}

Thus Bueno recovers to 330,000, while we are down one more Dutchman.

Goodwin Fills Up

Goodwin - overjoyed
Goodwin - overjoyed
We caught up with Marc Goodwin just as he was betting out 140,000 on the river of a {5-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} board. Carter Phillips stared expressionlessly at the board for a while before announcing call -- and then equally expressionlessly mucked when Goodwin turned over {7-Spades} {J-Spades} for a full house.

Goodwin is now up to around 730,000; Phillips meanwhile drops to 425,000.

Woodward Eliminated

It's off to the rail for Woodward
It's off to the rail for Woodward
Matt Woodward stood from his chair and waited for the deal to run out the board and determine his fate in the tournament.

Woodward had moved all in preflop with {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}. Chip leader Matt Lapossie made the call holding {8-Diamonds} {8-Spades}. "Hold up!" yelled Lapossie as he too stood from his chair.

The flop came down {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} and things got darker for Woodward.

The turn brought the {4-Diamonds} and the door was just about shut. When the {10-Hearts} hit the river, Lapossie clapped his hands together and then shook Woodward's hand, congratulating him on a tournament well played.

"And the rich get richer." commented one of the other players at the table while Lapossie built another couple of towers of chips.

Boubli Picks One Up Off Timex

Mike "Timex" McDonald and Jan Boubli saw a {5-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {K-Spades} flop, and Boubli open-shoved. Timex gave it some thought, but ultimately opted for the fold. Boubli thus nudges his stack up to 165,000.

Immediately following this hand the table was broken, and Timex was reseated directly on ElkY's left. That should be entertaining.
