Lucille Cailly was in the small blind and the only caller to an early position raise from Sergio Grosso.
The flop fell and the EPT Grand Final runner-up check-called a 1,200 bet. The turn came and Grosso bet 3,000 when checked to again. Cailly looked a little confused but made the call regardless.
Both players checked the river and Cailly mucked upon seeing Gross's .
Picking up the action on the flop, five players were involved including Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier. After the first two players checked, Mercier checked. The fourth player to act bet 2,000 and the player behind him folded. Action folded back to Mercier and he called.
The turn was the and Mercier checked again. His opponent fired 6,000 and Mercier took a few moments to think. Mercier had 14,850 left in his stack and moved them all into the middle with a check-shove. His opponent quickly called holding the . Mercier had him drawing dead, though, as he held the . The river completed the board with the and Mercier doubled up.
On the very next hand, Mercier was in the big blind. Philip Sternheimer raised from the hijack seat to 1,200 and Mercier made the call to see the flop. Mercier checked and Sternheimer bet 1,700. Mercier called.
After the landed on the turn, Mercier checked to his opponent. Sternheimer bet 4,100 and Mercier folded.
A raising war resulted in Bolivar Palacios being all in preflop for 27,950 with and up against the of Elisabeth Hille, who if you recall finished in 11th place this summer in the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event.
It was a classic flip, but Palacios was the one at risk and in need of some help. The flop was just what he had in mind as it paired his ace and gave him the lead, but he wasn't too thrilled about the turn as it gave Hille a flush draw. Lucky for Palacios, the blanked on the river and he doubled to nearly 60,000.
Jakob Karlsson, who astute readers will remember finished second to Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree in San Remo, just moved all in for about 12,000 over the top of a 4,600 turn bet from David Vamplew with the board reading . Morten Mortensen (so good they named him twice) was next to act but after a few minutes he opted to fold.
Vamplew quickly folded too, leaving himself fairly short going into the last level.
We joined the action with the board at one of the secondary feature tables reading and only two players, Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu and last year's EPT Barcelona Main Event final latbleist Isabel Baltazar still in play.
With around 24,000 already in the pot Negreanu fired another 10,800 bullet and Baltazar gave up her hand.
Negreanu busted early on Day 1 of the €50,000 Super High Roller and his second attempt after re-buying just before the start of Day 2 wasn't much better either. Negreanu said he wasn't feeling very well and therefore could not bring his A game. Judging from his current form he must be feeling much better.
Team PokerStars Pro Ana Marquez raised to 1,200 on the button and was called by the Brazilian Antonio Luft in the small blind. The board ran and Marquez splashed another 1,500 and Luft made the call.
Marquez continued for 3,500 as the dealer opened on the turn and Luft pushed his hand into the muck.
