Engel Puts Isaia to the Test

The player under the gun made it 950 to go and found calls from Ari Engel in the hijack and Alessio Isaia in the big blind.

The {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop was checked around, landing the {6-Spades} on the turn. Isaia bet 1,450, getting the initial raiser to fold. Engel raised to 4,100 and that is where things became interesting. Isaia intended to call, placing calling chips on the table, but did so without removing his initial betting chips swiftly enough, leaving 6,600 out there for longer than you would usually see.

As far as the dealer was concerned it was a call, but Engel didn't believe so and asked for a floor ruling. In the end, it was ruled that Isaia had to put in the minimum raise (in this case 8,200). After about two minutes of sorting out whether the pot was correct, action was finally on Engel and he re-raised to 29,100.

After another three minutes in the tank for Isaia, he gave up the pot to Engel.

Just Nguyen Baby!

1998 WSOP Main Event Champ Scotty Nguyen had put in a raise to 2,300 facing one opponent's 1k bet, only to see another player make it 8k behind him.

The original raiser folded, but not Scotty, who pushed all in for another 8k+.

The re-raiser called throwing {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} down on the felt, but Nguyen was way ahead with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}.

Both missed the board and with the double up, Nguyen is back up above the 30k starting stack.

Intensity

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

PokerStars Qualifier Mick Graydon and Ludovic Riehl found themselves embroiled in a rather intense pre-flop raising war.

By the time they got to the fourth and fifth bet it was all in and call as the entire table seemed to be holding their collective breath.

And suddenly, the cards were on their backs:

Graydon: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Riehl: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

Everyone could finally breath again as the board ran out {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and both made three pairs to chop up the pot.
