Petersen Fires Three Barrels; Folds to Check-Raise on the River

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Mickey Petersen (Day 1b) can't call a river jam
Mickey Petersen (Day 1b) can't call a river jam

Erik Scheidt opened to 2,400 in late position, and Team Online member Mickey Petersen three-bet to 7,000 from the small blind. The big blind released, and Scheidt called.

The dealer fanned {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Spades}, Petersen led out for 7,000, and Scheidt tank-called.

The turn was the {6-Clubs}, Petersen led out again - this time for 12,200 - and again, the German called.

The {10-Clubs} completed the board, and Petersen emptied the barrel, firing a third bullet worth 23,000. There was a beat, and then Scheidt moved all in for an additional 35,800.

Petersen tanked. And he tanked. And he tanked.

Nearly four minutes later, Petersen checked his cards one last time, and with a frown on his face he flicked them into the muck. Scheidt raked in the pot, and now sits with around 115,000 chips.

Petersen was knocked down to roughly 125,000.

Hooraa For Boeree

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Liv Boeree
Liv Boeree

Team Pro Liv Boeree has just given herself another chance to win her second EPT after doubling through Ville Mattila. Our German colleague explained how Boeree and Mattila were heads up on a {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop when the former EPT San Remo winner checked. Mattila bet, Boeree moved all in and the Finnish tank-called.

Ville Mattila: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}
Liv Boeree: {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Spades}, {3-Diamonds} and a lucky three saved Boeree.

Kenney Climbing

Bryn Kenney

On a flop of {J-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, Baris Ergun checked to Bryn Kenney. Kenney fired 3,100 and Ergun decided to stay the course. The {5-Hearts} dropped down on fourth street and the action was checked by both players.

The river brought the {K-Spades} and Ergun tapped the table for a third time. Kenney cut out 6,700 and Ergun instantly snapped his hand into the muck. Kenney picked up the pot and is now sitting on about 140,000 in chips.

Champ Watch

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The longest running story on the EPT is the lack of any double champions. That obviously means that no one had ever defended their title either. Davidi Kitai, last season's champion, is out to write history this week.

Day 2 is sometimes known as moving day and the Belgian has moved up from 32,100 chips to an impressive 160,000.

He just forced Robert Auer off a hand on the river of a {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{4-Spades} board. Auer had seen his lead out on the turn called before he quickly check-folded to a river bet.

Whilst this was going on Griffn Benger was busy busting to Pietro Paolo Sibione on an adjacent table.

Mizzi Missing

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Sorel Mizzi has just been eliminated after losing two all ins in a row. On the first hand there was a raise to 2,500 and Yasar Guden three-bet to 7,000 with 20,500 left behind. Mizzi decided to put in a four-bet to 14,000 and the initial raiser folded quickly. Guden looked back at his stack and he moved all in and Mizzi made the call.

Sorel Mizzi: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Yasar Guden: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Mizzi was left behind with just 2,400 chips after posting his ante and small blind. On the very next hand Stephane Benadiba raised to 3,000 from late position and Mizzi called all in. Lukasz Golczyk made the call from the big blind and the flop showed {2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

Golczyk checked on the flop and Benadiba bet 10,000. Golczyk moved all in for 13,900 and Benadiba made the call.

"Do I at least have a sweat?" Mizzi asked as all three players turned over their cards.

Sorel Mizzi: {3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Stephane Benadiba: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Lukas Golczyk: {Q-Spades}{8-Clubs}

The board ran out {9-Spades}, {10-Clubs} and Mizzi was knocked out.
