How Much is too Much?

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Martin Finger squeezed a raise to 6,600 out of the big blind and initial raiser Armen Khachatryan then splashed his entire stack of T-5,000 chips into the middle of the table, making a long trail to follow. The dealer stacked the chips accordingly to determine the bet size and it was a reraise to 60,000 with 800 chips behind. Finger laughed, shook his head, laughed again and then folded his hands in front of his face.

Ultimately Finger let go, unwilling to risk half his stack on a possibly crazy move in the penultimate level of the day.

Refos Cannot Get Mateos to Fold

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The pot wasn't really that massive until the river of a {Q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} board and Adrian Mateos led from the big blind for 12,500. Raoul Refos moved all in from middle position for what looked like 42,000 and Mateos eventually called to see Refos sheepishly turn over {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Mateos tabled the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for just top pair, but that was enough to take in the pot.

Connor Drinan tapped the table and said nice hand, Ole Schemion chuckled.

Getting Pushed Around

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Ben Heath opened and then Thomas Muehloecker three-bet to 9,500 only for Heath to come over the top and enforce a fold.

Two tables over, Mustapha Kanit raised to 3,300 from under the gun and Anthony Zinno called. Julian Stuer squeezed to 9,700 and enforced two folds. One hand later, Kanit defended his big blind against Zinno and a pot of 20,000 chips emerged until the {8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} turn. Kanit fired 8,500 out of the big blind and Zinno folded with little chips behind to get shown {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

Booby Trap

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

2013 WSOP Europe Main Event and 2015 EPT Grand Final champ Adrian Mateos was joined by Farid Jattin in checking an {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop three-handed with about 9,000 in the middle.

Ole Schemion led out for 3,400 and after Mateos called, Jattin raised to 13,500. Only Mateos called and they both checked the {q-Hearts} turn.

Mateos also checked the {2-Clubs} river, but when Jattin checked behind, Mateos showed {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, having rivered a full house.

Despite the fact his trap failed, Mateos is still in the lead now on over 280,000.

It is all About Pocket Kings

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jake Cody
Jake Cody

Christoph Vogelsang got his second bullet in with the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and Bryn Kenney more than happily looked him up with the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. The flop {3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} changed nothing whatsoever and the {K-Hearts} on the turn gave Kenney top set. None of the remaining four queens showed up on the river and that was it for Vogelsang.

One table over, Jake Cody lost most of his stack with pocket sevens to the {K-}{K-} of Dan Smith and then shipped over the last 8,000 chips with {A-}{10-} versus {J-}{J-}, also against Smith.

Registration Closes in 10 Minutes

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Tournament director Nick O'Hara has just announced that the registration and reentry period for tonight will close in 10 minutes from now, 15 minutes prior to the end of the day. Players that bust after that can still reenter before the start of Day 2 tomorrow, though. Right now the screens show 201 entries, of which 37 consist of reentries.

Patel Busts to Mateos

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

The run of Adrian Mateos continues on and on and on. Przemyslaw Piotrowski raised to 3,900 from under the gun and Adrian Mateos called in the small blind with pocket sixes. Emil Patel shoved his last 19,000 chips in with pocket aces and Mateos eventually called to spike a set on the board {K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}.
