Lonis Rivers the Nuts and Gets Paid by Sturm

Jesse Lonis made it 55,000 from the cutoff and Leon Sturm defended from the big blind.

Sturm knuckled the action over to Lonis on the 4♥A♥6♦ flop, and Lonis placed out a bet of 45,000. Sturm hung around with a call.

Both players checked the 3♣ turn to see the Q♥ complete the board. Sturm bet 145,000, and was met by a raise to 485,000 from Lonis. Sturm used up a time bank card before electing to call.

Lonis flipped over the nut flush with K♥3♥ and the pot of over a million headed his way.

The next five hands of the final table didn't offer much in the way of entertainment.

Leon Sturm raised one hand on the button to 50,000 and Aleksejs Ponakovs called in the big blind.

On the A♠7♠6♥ flop, Ponakovs check-called a bet of 35,000 from Sturm, and then they both checked to showdown on the 2♣Q♦ runout. Ponakovs flipped king-high with K♠9♥, but Sturm had a pair of jacks holding J♠J♦ to win the pot.

Shortly after, Espen Jorstad made it 65,000 from the small blind and Bryn Kenney called in the big blind.

Both checked the J♦8♠7♠ flop and Jorstad fired 50,000 on the 10♠ turn. Kenney folded.

Both players checked all the way to the river on the 6♦A♣3♥A♥7♠ runout before Sturm led out for 45,000. Ponakovs folded, and Sturm picked up the pot.

No Flops for the First Four Final Table Hands

In the first hand of the final table, Samuel Mullur raised to 50,000 from early position and everyone folded.

Then, Leon Sturm made it 50,000 from early position and Jesse Lonis three-bet to 225,000 out of the small blind. Sturm folded his hand.

On the third final table hand, Leon Sturm made it 50,000 from under the gun and picked up the blinds and ante.

The fourth hand saw David Coleman raise to 55,000 from under the gun and get a round of folds from the other eight players.

No Three-Peat as Mokri Falls Short of a Third Consecutive Victory

Kayhan Mokri raised to 45,000 under the gun, and only Espen Jorstad called out of the big blind.

Jorstad checked after the dealer fanned out the flop of K♠K♥J♦, and Mokri laid out a bet of 25,000. Jorstad continued in the form of a call.

The 5♣ dropped on the turn and Jorstad checked again. Mokri bet 105,000 and was met by a check-raise to 360,000 from Jorstad. Mokri thought for a few moments, then made the call with around a million remaining in his stack.

A 4♣ peeled off on the river, and Jorstad jammed for the rest of Mokri's stack. Mokri used up one of his time banks, then slammed in the call for the remainder of his stack.

Jorstad had turned a full house with 5♠5♥, which was good enough to send the tournament to the final table as Mokri showed K♦Q♣ for trips. Jorstad moved up to 3,700,000, and the back-to-back defending champion was out.
