Bruno Fuentes Cruises to Chip Lead as Bubble Bursts on Day 2 of EPT Paris Main Event

Level 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Bubble Time!
Bubble Time!

It took almost the entire second day, but with about half an hour left to play on Day 2 of the 2026 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris €5,300 Main Event, the money was reached. The 1,474-entry field was whittled down to 217 when Carlos Ribeiro and Daniel Custodio busted simultaneously while two eliminations away from the money, making them share the title of bubble boy and miss out on a piece of the massive €7,075,200 prize pool.

The post-bubble bust-out bonanza at Le Palais des Congrès went into full swing for the next 30 minutes, resulting in 179 players bagging up at the end of the night, all eyeing the top prize of €1,148,600. Topping the counts is Bruno Fuentes, who became the only player to cross the seven-figure mark. Fuentes came into Day 2 with a big stack and steadily added to it throughout the day. He ended with 1,043,000 in chips, good for over 200 big blinds at the start of Day 3.

Day 1 chipleader Mahersh Selvakumaran continued his dominance as well. He had a mediocre start to the day, but changed course halfway through Day 2 and crushed the final stage to end second in chips, bagging 995,000. Meanwhile, the comeback story of the day belongs to Kayhan Mokri. The Norwegian high-stakes crusher was left with just a single T-500 chip at one point, but spun it up to a massive stack of 750,000 by the end of the night, good for fourth place on the leaderboard.

Other notables who made it through to Day 3 include online crushers Duco ten Haven (318,000) and Joris Ruijs (312,000), Team GRND streamer Felix Schneiders (311,000), French powerhouse Julien Sitbon (176,000), and 2025 PokerStars Live League winner Gerard Rubiralta (115,000).

Bad Day for EPT Champions and Team Pro

During the first break of the day, David Lappin was unveiled as the newest addition to Team PokerStars Pro. Lappin, who did not play the Main Event this time around, had to look on as his now fellow Red Spades Elias Gutierrez, Maria Konnikova, and Julien Dupre were all eliminated well before the money.

Similarly, no fewer than nine EPT champions were sent to the rail before the bubble was reached, including Dominik Panka, Thomas Eychenne, Davidi Kitai, and the legendary two-time winner Victoria Coren Mitchell. Other notables who did not manage to make the money include Ankit Ahuja, Alec Torelli, Kevin Rabichow, and Hall of Famer Erik Seidel.

Once in the money, the last remaining EPT winners Ognyan Dimov and Robin Ylitalo were eliminated and picked up the min-cash of €8,550, and the same fate befell Javier Rodriguez Gonzalez, the who was the final PokerStars Pro standing.

The 179 survivors will return for Day 3 on Thursday, February 26, at noon local time, with blinds restarting at 2,000/5,000 with a 5,000 big blind ante. The returning players have already secured a pay jump to €9,850, while five-figure payouts are awaiting the top 143 finishers. Meanwhile, the eye-watering six-figure prizes start from the unofficial final table of nine.

Meragal's Night Ends in Disaster

Level 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Francisco Perez
Francisco Perez

Francisco Perez raised to 8,000 under the gun, Maduka Meragal three-bet to 25,000 in early position, and Perez called.

The flop came 997 and Meragal continued for 25,000. Perez called, and they both checked the Q turn.

The river was the 8 and Perez moved all in. Meragal shook his head as he quickly called for his last 98,000, and his suspicions proved correct as Perez turned over 88 for a rivered full house. Meragal threw KK into the muck and busted on the last hand of Day 2.

"What can I do?" Perez said after the hand.

"It's so cheap," Keating replied as he put in the chips to call.

Jonathan Bonnin: KK All in
Alex Keating: KJ

"I'm just getting hustled. It was so obvious. I'm going to ruin your night," Keating said as the cards were revealed. The board ran out 103563 and Bonnin doubled up.

Jimmy Armougom
Jimmy Armougom

Jimmy Armougom raised to 10,000 under the gun before Neil Channing three-bet to 27,000 in the hijack. "What the heck. You're already in the money," Channing said to Armougom.

"Step by step," Armougom replied.

"Sometimes you have to take a step backwards," Channing added. Armougom eventually slammed in his last 50,000, and Channing called.

Jimmy Armougom: J10 All in
Neil Channing: AK

Channing hit top pair on the A57 flop, and Armougom was drawing dead by the 2 turn. The river was the K and Armougom was sent to the payout desk.

"Gamble, gamble," Channing said after the hand.

Ramzi Lying in Wait For Farkas; Carvalho Coolers Rodriguez

Level 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Gianfranco Iaculli three-bet to 23,000 in the hijack and Salman Ramzi called in the small blind. Peter Farkas then moved all in for 100,000 under the gun and Iaculli folded, while Ramzi called to put Farkas at risk.

Peter Farkas: 33 All in
Salman Ramzi: KK

Ramzi showed down a pair of kings and improved to top set on the KJ4 flop. The rest of the board ran out 10Q and Farkas made his exit. "I had pocket tens," Iaculli told Ramzi after the hand.

At an adjacent table, Manuel Carvalho in middle position and Javier Rodriguez Gonzalez in the hijack got all their chips in the middle before the flop.

Manuel Carvalho: KK All in
Javier Rodriguez Gonzalez: QQ

Rodriguez Gonzalez had also run into kings, and the 976JA board offered no help as Carvalho doubled up for 181,000.

Carlos Ribeiro and Daniel Custodio Bubble EPT Paris Main Event

Level 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Carlos Ribeiro
Carlos Ribeiro

Two spots away from the money, Carlos Ribeiro put in his last few chips from the big blind on a board of A4210 and Renato Minicuci put him at risk in the hijack.

Ribeiro could barely stand to look at the board as they waited to turn over their cards, while, on the other hand, Minicuci was playing to the crowd gathering around the table and happily posing for photos.

Carlos Ribeiro: Q10 All in
Renato Minicuci: 98

Ribeiro showed a pair, but Minicuci had turned a flush and left Ribeiro drawing dead. The river was the 3 and Ribeiro was sent to the rail.

Simulteanously, at another table, Pawel Wojciechowski had raised under the gun and called when Daniel Custodio three-bet jammed for 28,000 from middle position.

Daniel Custodio: KK All in
Pawel Wojciechowski: A8

Wojciechowski paired his ace on the Q7A flop, making him a big favorite.

Custodio needed a king to survive after the 4 turn, but his status as bubble boy was set in stone as soon as the 10 river hit the felt.

Custodio wished his former opponents good luck and departed the tournament area. With 215 players remaining, the EPT Paris Main Event continued in the money.

Giovani Torre: AK All in
Lucas Bardot: AA

Cracked Aces Spell End for Mikek and Chisu

Level 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Danut Chisu
Danut Chisu

In a pot of 55,000, Salman Ramzi checked from the hijack to Simon Mikek on the button, who bet 25,000 on the Q2K flop.

Ramzi then min-raised to 50,000, after which Mikek shoved all in for roughly 110,000. Ramzi snap-called with the covering stack.

Simon Mikek: AA All in
Salman Ramzi: KK

Ramzi had flopped top set for a big lead over Mikek's aces. The 4 turn and 9 river failed to provide Mikek with a miracle ace, and he was sent to the rail a few spots before the money.

Over at another table, Danut Chisu got his last 90,000 or so in preflop from early position against Tsugunari Toma in the big blind.

Danut Chisu: AA All in
Tsugunari Toma: 1010

Toma made a set on the 3102QJ runout to crack Chisu's aces and leave him empty-handed.
