Joshua Mammen
Joshua Mammen

A completed board of A557A was spread across the felt with around 300,000 in the middle. Carl Shaw checked from the big blind and Joshua Mammen slid out a bet of 200,000 in the cutoff.

"Really?" Shaw questioned as he leaned back in his chair. "You have an ace?"

A few moments had passed and Mammen started some table talk of his own. "I could have a flush draw," he hinted, which got a chuckle from Shaw who then quickly folded.

"I have neither," Mammen continued as he turned over KQ for complete air.

"Wow! That's savage," one player at the table chimed in as the rest of the table gasped.

Burlacu Puts Hallaert to the Test

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Robert Burlacu raised to 12,000 in early position and Kenny Hallaert three-bet to 33,000 in the hijack. The action was back on Burlacu who just called to see a flop of A42. Burlacu checked to Hallaert who continued with a bet of 15,000. Burlacu then raised to 40,000 and Hallaert called.

The turn was the K and Burlacu counted out a bet of 41,000. Hallaert still called and the 3 completed the board. Burlacu dropped in a bet of 100,000, more than enough to cover the remaining 44,000 in front of Hallaert. After using a time bank, Hallaert reluctantly mucked his cards.

"There's a bluff going around Bucharest," Shannon Shorr chimed in.

"I don't live there anymore!" Burlacu responded.

Rheem Calls Out Beinner's Card; Vanier Makes a Big Call to Decimate Smith

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

In a blind versus blind confrontation, Matthew Beinner led out for 55,000 on a board of 4K39 and Cherish Andrews called in the big blind.

The river was the 8 and Beinner bet another 220,000. Andrews used up a few of her time banks, but eventually tossed her cards into the muck.

"Six!" Chino Rheem shouted at Beinner.

"Seven-five of hearts!" Chance Kornuth added. Beinner then allowed Rheem to choose one of his cards, and Rheem slammed down the 6.

"See, told you," Rheem said.

"You and Chino are the best at that, finessing information," tablemate Frank Brannan said to Kornuth after the hand.

At another table, Mike Vanier was deep in the tank as Dan Smith had raised to 125,000 in the hijack on a board of 87674 after Vanier bet 22,000 from the big blind. Vanier ended up using four time banks until calling.

Smith showed AK for ace-high, while Vanier had 63 for two pair to win the pot and leave Smith nursing a short stack.
