Back in April, the inaugural $10,400 Merit Millions Event saw Boris Kolev rising above a talented field of 212 entries to become the first-ever champion. Held inside the stunning Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa, the unique event ended with Kolev capturing the coveted title and the massive $1,000,000 guaranteed top prize.
Kolev, who began the final table third in chips, put on a clinical display to systematically dismantle his opponents on the way to victory. In doing so, he became the first player in Merit Poker history to walk away with a seven-figure payday. The Bulgarian pro made quick work of Mehdi Chaoui in a brief heads-up battle to seal the title and etch his name in the record books.

Mikita Badziakouski limped in from the small blind and then called a raise of 28,000 from Daniel Rezaei, who was in the big blind.
The flop came 4♥Q♣K♥ and Badziakouski check-called a bet of 16,000 from Rezaei to see the 3♦ fall on the turn. Again Badziakouski went into check-call mode when Rezaei fired 96,000.
When the 4♣ hit the river, Badziakouski led for a small sizing of 15,000, which Rezaei called after rechecking his cards
Badziakouski then showed a pair of kings with K♣6♣, and Rezaei mucked.

Roman Stoika raised from under the gun to 16,000 and Nenad Dukic called in the cutoff. Nick Schulman also called from the button.
All three checked to the river on the J♣Q♠2♣A♣8♠ board, where Stoika bet 42,000. Dukic wasted no time in making the call, and Schulman folded.
Stoika then revealed a pair of fives with 5♦5♣, but that was no good as Dukic rivered two pair holding A♦8♦ to scoop the pot.

Hassan Nashar just got moved to another table, but was up to his old tricks as soon as he arrived.
The board read 6♥10♥Q♦6♠8♠ and with around 40,000 in the pot, Nashar had fired 125,000 on the river.
Viacheslav Buldygin was the player facing the bet and he asked for some time to think about it. Eventually, he did call.
Nashar then flipped over a full house with Q♣6♦, and Buldygin could only laugh as he sent his cards to the muck.

Yiannis Liperis had a great chance at having a stack of around 800,000, but instead he watched a big pot slide away from him and into the arms of Aleksandr Chernikov.
The action was caught at showdown, with presumably the chips going in preflop, on a board of Q♣9♥A♠J♦3♦. Liperis held K♣K♦ for a pair of kings, but Chernikov had spiked an ace holding A♦K♥ to drag the pot worth over 600,000.
