There was a table with multiple open seats and the tournament staff was quickly trying to balance out the tables. While a hand was playing out between Dominik Nitsche and Eric Baldwin, Ema Zajmovic joined the table to the left of Charles La Boissonniere. She greeted her fellow Canadian Mike Leah across the table but then began a conversation with La Boissonniere in French, their native tongue.

On a flop that read {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, Eric Baldwin check-called a bet of 75,000 from Nitsche and the {q-Clubs} landed on the turn. Baldwin checked again and Nitsche fired another bet of 225,000. Baldwin still called and the {k-Spades} completed the board. Both players knuckled the table and Baldwin turned over {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for the best hand.

As the hand was finishing, another Canadian Philippe D'Auteuil also took a seat with a fresh stack of 1,000,000 chips. He joined Zajmovic and La Boissonniere in the French conversation and also greeted Leah. Matt Stout looked across the table at Leah who just shrugged his shoulders as he could not keep up to the French conversation going on and everyone had a laugh.

There was also a three-way all in a couple tables over that saw John Krpan shove all in for 555,000. John Racener also moved all in for 470,000 and Mykhailo Gutyi called with the bigger stack in the big blind. Racener was in the lead with {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}, followed by Gutyi with {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and Krpan with {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. The board ran out {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Racener held on for a triple up while Krpan was ousted by Gutyi.

With a little over an hour to go before late registration closes, the smiles are starting to get a little bigger on the faces of the tournament staff. The field has grown to 375 entries in search of that ultimate goal of 400 to reach the $10 million guaranteed prizepool. The players will head on a 60-minute dinner break at the end of this level with registration staying open throughout.

In a field stacked with professional poker players and the best players from all around the world, it's a bit of a surprise to see a few recreational players at the top of the leaderboard. Geraldo Cesar has been at or near the top for quite some time but has recently been joined by [Removed:150] and Kathy Lehne. They are all chasing veteran Keith Lehr who has quickly accumulated nearly 7,000,000 chips and only time will tell if they can keep up that pace for an extended period of time.

A Look at the partypoker Team Before Dinner Break

Level 12 : 15,000/35,000, 35,000 ante
partypoker pros
partypoker pros

Joni Jouhkimainen was once again involved in a big pot with a fellow partypoker team member and this time it happened to be Joao Simao. With a little over 600,000 already in the pot and the board reading {k-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, Simao led out for 375,000 from the big blind. Jouhkimainen called and the {10-Diamonds} completed the board.

Simao announced all in which sent Jouhkimainen into the tank for over two minutes before finally letting go. Simao did his teammate a favor by showing a card which happened to be the {6-Hearts}. "You know what I had," Simao said, hinting at the nut straight.

"I was going to call you, but then I didn't. I don't know why," Jouhkimainen responded.

Mike Sexton has also recently joined the same table to put four partypoker teammates at the same table to fight against each other. Here is a look at how the rest of the team is doing before they head on a 60-minute dinner break.

Extended Dinner Break

Level 12 : 15,000/35,000, 35,000 ante

During the dinner break, the tournament staff chose to extend it by 30 minutes to allow more time for players to find a restaurant and get some food. The action is scheduled to get underway around 6 p.m. local time.

Level: 13

Blinds: 20,000/40,000

Ante: 40,000

Registration is Closed; Livestream is Running

Level 13 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

The action is back underway which means late registration is officially closed. Simon Trumper made an announcement to the players that registration was still cutoff at the appropriate time despite the fact that the dinner break was extended by 30 minutes. That means, there will be a total of 394 entries, just six short of the 400 to make the guarantee.

The live stream is also getting started and will become available with hole cards in 30 minutes. The feature table includes Leon Tsoukernik, Cary Katz, Darren Elias, and Matt Glantz. There should be a lot of fun table talk and you can check out all of the action right here.

Berkey Into the Lead; Imsirovic Gets Run Over

Level 13 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Matt Berkey
Matt Berkey

As we walked back into the poker room, Johannes Becker was seen getting up from his seat to leave the tournament area. Matt Berkey was the one dragging in a hefty pot and once he was done stacking, he had over 9,000,000 chips in front of him. That was by far and away good enough to claim the chip lead just moments after the dinner break.

Meanwhile at another table, Ali Imsirovic, who was the early Day 1a chipleader, found himself all in with pocket queens against the {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs} of Steve O'Dwyer. The flop fell {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Imsirovic looked poised to score a double up. The {8-Clubs} on the turn gave O'Dwyer a flush draw to go with his one overcard and the {9-Clubs} on the river completed his flush. Imsirovic was eliminated and O'Dwyer scooped the pot to climb over 6,000,000 chips.
