Avi Avitan Adds Yet More Chips to his Stack

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

On a flop of {10-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} Avi Avitan and Yossef Karavani got their chipstacks all in with Karavani at risk.

Avitan, who has well over 100,000 already in chips, held {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} for an open-ended straight drew while Karavani had flopped trips holding {q-}{8-}. The turn was the safe {2-Diamonds}, but the river was the {a-Spades} giving Avitan a straight and eliminating Karavani.

Cazacu Eliminated After Brutal River

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

On a {2-Spades}{j-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop Alex Udrea checked to Marius Cazacu who bet 2,700. Udrea then check-raised to 9,300 and Cazacu called.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and Udrea checked again, allowing Cazacu to bet 7,000. Almost immediately, Udrea moved all in. Cazacu had 17,300 behind and after a while called all-in for his tournament life.

Udrea turned over {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for ace-high, while Cazacu held {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for top pair. The river was the {10-Spades} however, giving Udrea a straight and eliminating Cazacu.

Sam Grafton

For several years now Sam Grafton, known online as TheSquid (or SamSquid), has taken more and more time away from crushing the virtual felts to venture into the live poker arena; always sharing stories, cracking jokes, and making the game fun for his tablemates (whilst simultaneously taking their chips).

Grafton's here in Bucharest for the PokerStars Festival, and is currently enjoying a good Day 1B so far (he's already cracked aces and made a straight flush). The perfect time for a catch up, then. Find out more over on the PokerStars Blog.

Linas Pugzlys Comes from Behind to Secure a Double

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

A player in early position raised to 1,500 and the player on the button called. Linas Pugzlys was in the big blind and three-bet to 5,500 from a stack of 19,100. The initial raiser moved all in and the button folded. Pugzlys called and was all in.

Pugzlys: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Opponent: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

Pugzlys was behind, but the flop was near perfection for his hand coming {7-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}. His opponent still had outs to a jack, or a backdoor flush, but the {k-Diamonds} on the turn gave Pugzlys a lock on the hand and the {8-Spades} was meaningless.

Altundag's Aces Hold Against Iancu

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

The player under the gun limped, as did Ceyhun Altundag and four others. Leontin Iancu was in the big blind, and he squeezed to 8,000. The under the gun player folded and Altundag moved all in. It folded back around to Iancu who called all in for his last 19,000.

Iancu: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Altundag: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

The board ran out {8-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Altundag's Aces sent Iancu to the rail shortly before the second break of the day.
