Zervos Busts; Gamble Doubles

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

After defending out of the blinds, Jonathan Willis got Alexios Zervos all in and at risk on a flop of {4-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}. Zervos had {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} for the over pair only to see Willis turn over {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for the flopped straight. The {4-Hearts} turn and {J-Spades} river were of no help for the Greek and he was eliminated.

Soon after at the same table, Lucy Gamble was all in for 62,000 with {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} against the {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} of Chun Law. The board of {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{3-Spades} was quite scary to say the least, but ultimately Gamble doubled up.

Jonathan Wong
Jonathan Wong

Jonathan Wong raised to 12,500 from under the gun and Jack Maskill shoved for around 60,000 from middle position. The action folded to Ricardo Cuerda Cuartero in the small blind and he moved all in. Wong called off for his last 140,000 as well and a three-way all in emerged.

Jack Maskill: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Jonathan Wong: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Ricardo Cuerda Cuartero: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and Cuartero knocked out two opponents to boost his stack to more than double the average.

Chun Law Wins Flip To Survive

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Chun Law opened from early position and Mikal Blomlie three-bet from the cut-off to 22,000. Law responded by moving all in for 150,000. Blomlie took a short while to decide and then called.

Law with the {6-Spades}{6-Clubs} and {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} for Blomlie.

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and the sixes held to double Law up.

Croitoru Pushes into Day

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Joining the action on the flop of {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, Mihaita Croitoru checked out of the small blind and Christopher Day bet 12,000. Croitoru check-raised to 32,000 and was called before betting the {2-Hearts} turn for 47,000. Day called and then faced the instant all in of the PokerStars qualifier from Romania when the {K-Spades} appeared on the river.

Day folded and that bumped Croitoru's stack up nicely.

The flop was {3-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Persaud check-called a 26,000 bet from Noguera. They both checked the {9-Hearts} turn card and on the river {j-Hearts} Persuad check-folded to a bet of 32,000.

Sterneborg and Jiang no More

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Honglin Jiang open-shoved the remainder of his stack from the button with the {J-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Alexios Zervos peeked at his cards and then called. "I saw the first card and it was a deuce, I almost folded. But the other one was a deuce as well," Zervos said.

The board came {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Jiang was eliminated.

At the same time, short stack Peter Sterneborg three-bet shoved out of the big blind on a different table and Dillon Scanlan called with the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Sterneborg only had one over card with the {Q-Clubs}{9-Spades} and failed to get there on a board of {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{A-Spades}.

Banerji and Perati Among the Leaders

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Yehoram Houri lost most of his stack with kings to ace-queen and was then all in for just 40,000 with pocket aces against the pocket eights of Shantanu Banerji. An eight appeared right away and that was it for the Frenchman.

Joining Banerji at the top of the counts is Muhamet Perati, who continues his hot run in the main room. He raised big and Bjoernar Kvamme three-bet shoved for 80,000 in the small blind with {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}. Perati snap-called with {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} and the board came {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{10-Hearts} to eliminate the Norwegian.
