Day 1b Completed
Day 1b's dust has settled at RunGood Grand Prix Caesars Southern Indiana $800 Main Event, and eight more players have punched tickets to Day 2 to join the six Day 1a survivors. Familiar RunGood face Craig Welko was among them, finishing second with 428,000.
The St. Louis native just scooped his first RunGood ring with a win in a Thursday preliminary event, pocketing $9,082. Welko has two other RunGood final tables to his credit. He was the beneficiary of a large late cooler when he was dealt pocket aces against kings to burst the bubble and send everyone home for the night.
The only player who finished ahead of Welko was Bryan Russell. His 577,000 is good for the overall lead, just ahead of Travis Rodgers, who had 558,500 on Day 1a.
The 64 entries on Day 1b push the two-flight total to 114.

Craig Welko opened under the gun, Frank Covich called on his left, and action folded to the button, where Jon Howard made it 40,000. Welko shoved all in for about 200,000. Covich called off for around 145,000. Howard tanked awhile then folded.
Frank Covich: K♣K♥

The remaining players are bagging their chips.

Bryan Russell opened for 16,000 under the gun, the next player shoved for 55,000, and Tommy Young called in the big blind. Russell mucked.
Young: A♠10♠
Opponent: A♣K♦
All looked safe for Young's opponent to double up as 7♦5♦J♣6♠ came off the deck, but the 10♦ was a brutal river.

Kevin Helming shoved in for 62,000 a little over the size of the pot, from the big blind on a K♥A♣6♠ flop. His opponent tanked a long time from the cutoff before calling with A♦2♥.
Helming had the leading kicker with A♥10♥, and the 3♠ and Q♣ didn't change that.
At the other table, Jason Sucher busted.

Charlie Dawson was exiting the tournament area moments after he held a big stack, and Bryan Russell was collecting his chips. Dawson said he held a straight flush draw but ran smack into the set held by Russell and couldn't get there.
At the other table, Rodney Deaton ran out of all-in luck after surviving multiple times as the shorter stack, leaving the field down to just 12.
