Day 1a Completed
Day 1a of the inaugural RunGood Poker Grand Prix at Caesars Southern Indiana concluded in the early hours of Friday morning, with Travis Rodgers emerging as the chip leader after nearly 14 levels of play. Rodgers turned his 30,000 starting stack into a massive 558,500, leading the final six players as Day 1a wrapped.
The tournament drew 50 entries, and Rodgers claimed the chip lead shortly after registration closed. He maintained his momentum through the final levels, applying pressure and playing a wide range of hands to steadily grow his stack. By the end of the day, he had nearly double the chips of second-place Brad Butcher.
Butcher, who typically spends most of his poker time with at least four cards in front of him, demonstrated his skill in a two-card format as well. Entering the tournament late after busting a side event, he built his stack thanks in large part to a key hand where he hit a flush to hold against a set of queens.

Alan Percal opened for 12,000 in the hijack and called the 48,500 shove of Alex Fininzio on the button.
Alex Fininzio: A♣Q♦
Alan Percal: K♣J♣
Fininzio was ahead, but the 9♦2♠J♥ left him in need of improvement. The 8♦ brought a straight draw, but the 7♣ didn't do it on the river.

Heads up on J♦8♣10♦5♠, Travis Rodgers bet 18,000 in the hijack. George Durham called in the cutoff, and they went to a 6♣ river. Rodgers checked. Durham bet 30,000 and Rodgers quickly called.
Durham shook his head and showed A♦4♦ for a missed flush, no good against J♥7♥.

Brad Butcher opened for 15,000 under the gun, Travis Rodgers called on his left, and Rayz Rayl went all in for 48,500 in the small blind. Butcher got out of the way, and Rodgers called.
Travis Rodgers: A♠3♠
Rayz Rayl: A♥A♣
Rayl was way ahead, but the 7♣3♦J♠ flop brought some danger. The K♠ brought even more as Rodgers picked up a spade draw. A black card arrived, but it was the 2♣.

Vincent Laudicina was all in for about 50,000 in the hijack, and Jim Decker announced all in for around 90,000. The players in the blinds got out of the way.
Vincent Laudicina: A♥J♣
Jim Decker: A♦K♠
The A♣9♠K♣ flop ended most of the sweat immediately, and running 7♦, 7♣ changed nothing.
