JB Wells was all in from the big blind for 27,000 holding A♠9♠ but was absolutely smashed by the A♥A♣ of Joseph Sauers.
The 10♣5♣5♠ flop did little for Wells, but the 9♦ brought a sliver of hope. The 9♣ river brought the backdoor winner home for him as the rest of the players at the table exclaimed in shock.
Joseph Sauers was all in from the small blind with A♥K♣, slightly covering an opponent in middle position who had K♦K♠. The 2♦A♦6♥9♦6♠ board favored Sauers, as he flopped his pair of aces and faded backdoor diamonds.
Brad Butcher opened in middle position and the player on his left called. On the 4♦6♥7♦ flop, he continued for 3,000 and received a fairly quick call. Butcher checked the 5♠ and snap-folded to a bet of 8,500.
A player in middle position was all in for just under 19,000, having been called by Alex Fininzio on the button. Fininzio showed A♣J♦, meaning it was a flip since his opponent held 8♠8♣.
The dealer delivered a 6♠7♦3♥2♦ board, safe for the all-in player, until the J♣ river.
The busted player sat for a moment in disbelief.
"They named this tournament after you, brother," he chirped as he got up to leave.
