The cutoff raised to 3,000 before Feruz Khasanov moved all in for his last 10,000 in the cutoff. Stephen Crenny then reraised to 25,000 to chase away the cutoff and leave himself heads-up with Khasanov.
Feruz Khasanov: Q♦10♠
Stephen Crenny: 8♦8♣
The cutoff let out a deep sigh as the flop came K♥5♥3♠. The turn was the 5♠, while the 8♠ river improved Crenny to a full house to earn him the knockout.
A player in the cutoff put in his last 2,500 before Michael Bohmerwald raised to 12,500 in the big blind. Bill Zak then shoved all in from under the gun as action went back on Bohmerwald. "I was trying to isolate for you," Bohmerwald told the cutoff as he quickly called for his last 40,000.
Cutoff: A♠3♣
Michael Bohmerwald: Q♦Q♣
Bill Zak: K♣K♠
Zak was ahead with his kings, and the 10♦8♦6♠2♠J♠ board improved neither opponent as Zak sent them both to the rail.
Christian Mazzarelli was already sitting on a big stack, but he joined the ranks of the chip leaders in spectacular fashion.
Mazzarelli had flopped a set of kings against his opponent’s top pair of aces, then improved to quads on the river to earn the knockout. Mazzarelli heads into the second break with around 150,000 and has been enjoying his time so far today at this table.
“It’s a good day. It’s a good start to the day. I drove here this morning. It’s been a good day. Feeling good this morning,” Mazzarelli said.
“It’s a fun table. Everyone’s chatting up. It’s fun. It’s more casual than some of the other tables. We’ve had three quads. We had back-to-back-to-back knockouts. The chips are flying at this table, for sure.”
The young Philadelphia native says he’s been playing poker since college and has more than $130,000 in career earnings, with cashes dating back to 2022. Seeking to become the first-ever RunGood Poker Series champion here at the Borgata, Mazzarelli says he hopes this event is just the first of many to come.
“It would be nice. Any title would be nice. The RunGood title would be cool. It’s cool you guys are coming to Borgata. I’m an East Coast guy. We need more stuff here. If we get more stuff here, it’s good for me. It’s good for everybody,” he said.
With around 40,000 in the pot on a board of 10♠K♠Q♣6♦, Michael Cheng bet 55,000 from early position, then called for his last 90,000 when an opponent in the cutoff moved all in.
The cutoff showed Q♥Q♠ for a set, but Cheng had flopped the nut straight with A♣J♥. The river was the J♠ and Cheng won the massive pot to double up.
With around 30,000 in the pot on a flop of K♠A♥2♥, a player in the big blind moved all in for around 35,000 and Christian Mazzarelli put him at risk in early position.
All-in Player: A♦J♣
Christian Mazzarelli: K♣K♥
The at-risk player had flopped top pair, but Mazzarelli had a set and the lead. The turn was the 8♦, while the K♦ river gave Mazzarrelli quads and the knockout.
"Now everybody has had quads except me," another tablemate said.
