Avitsur Flips Correa for Tournament Life

Level 10 : 500/1,500, 1,500 ante
Danny Avitsur
Danny Avitsur

A short-stacked Danny Avitsur moved all in for 10,000 from middle position and Gregorio Correa called from the button. Both blinds folded and it was off to the races.

Avitsur: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Correa: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Avitsur was ahead and looking to hold, which is exactly what he did when the board ran out a lowly {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

Andrew Russell
Andrew Russell

A player got his stack of 12,000 all in preflop and found himself in between a rock and a hard place in the form of Andrew Russell.

Russell: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Russell had the superior ace and he scored the knockout after the board ran out {3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Hearts}.

Stevenson Done and Dusted

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

We're not sure when the last of John Stevenson's chips went in as we arrived at the table just as he was exiting the tournament area.

What we did see is a three-way all-in hand involving Stevenson as the short stack with the board reading {9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}.

Stevenson: {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Opponent #1: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Opponent #2: {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

Stevenson was third best and was eliminated from the tournament.

May Deep Stack Flashback: Steve McKoy Adds to Seminole Résumé

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Back in 2016, this very event attracted 1,075 entries, which meant a $322,500 prize pool more than doubled the guarantee. Steve McKoy emerged victorious in the tournament for $49,755 after a four-way deal.

Also getting a piece of it, $39,200 to be exact, was Ronald Compillo, who won the $350 Escalator Series earlier in the year. Compillo officially finished as runner-up while Michael Merisier and Jacob Snider took third and fourth for $35,750 and $35,710, respectively.

McKoey, who was 29 at the time, added to his Hard Rock résumé, which included wins at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and here at the Seminole Hard Rock.

Among those to finish in the money were 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year Ory Hen (23rd), Lou Stadler (29th), Jessica Dawley (42nd) , Darryl Fish (86th), Zoltan Czinkota (87th) and Evan Teitelbaum (89th).

Time for the Dinner Break

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Players are now on a 40-minute dinner break and will return to action at 5:30 p.m. EDT. They'll then play six more levels before bagging and tagging on Day 1c. Remember late registration and re-entries are open up to the start of Day 2.

Convente Flops the Nuts But Doesn't Win the Hand

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Jay Convente
Jay Convente

The under-the-gun player raised to 2,100 and Jay Convente called from early position. Joe Basso came along from the hijack, both blinds called, and it was five-way action to the flop, which came down {6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

Two checks saw the original raiser continue for 4,500 and Convente just called. Basso then raised all in for 38,500, the blinds both folded, and the original raiser got out of the way. Convente snap-called and the hands were turned up.

Convente: {7-Spades}{9-Spades}
Basso: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Convente had flopped the nut straight while Basso had middle set. The {6-Clubs} turn paired the board and just like that Convente went from being a big favorite to drawing dead as Basso boated up.

The meaningless {4-Clubs} was run out on the river and Convente sent a big portion of his chips across the table.

"Steeler" Stevenson Takes on the Falcons

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
John Stevenson
John Stevenson

A player donning an Atlanta Falcons jersey raised to 2,200 from early position only to have John Stevenson, who was sporting a Pittsburgh Steelers cap, to three-bet to 6,200 from the hijack.

Action folded back to the Falcons fan and he called to see a {5-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Spades} flop.

The Falcons supporter checked and Stevenson bet 11,000.

The Falcons gave it up and this one went to "Steeler" Stevenson
