Bouares Set Over Sets Carpentier-Perrault Again

Level 3 : 200/400, 400 ante

It's a feat in itself to flop a set when playing no-limit hold'em and players marvel at it when they do so. It's another thing to be fortunate enough to have another player make a smaller set at the same time in order to get paid off. For it to happen twice in a day, to the same person, that's just crazy.

Earlier today, Marc-Olivier Carpentier-Perrault flopped a set of tens and got all of the chips in the middle only to have Farid Bouares turn a set of aces. Just a couple of hours later, the two were at it again.

On a flop of {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs}, the action checked to Carpentier-Perrault who bet 4,000 into a pot of around 11,000. David "ODB" Baker called from the big blind and Bouares check-raised to 10,000. Carpentier-Perrault shipped all in and Baker got out of the way, while Bouares called off his stack of 38,600.

Farid Bouares: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Marc-Olivier Carpentier-Perrault: {4-}{4-}

Both players flopped a set and Bouares was out front again. The {k-Hearts} on the turn and the {k-Diamonds} on the river locked up the win for Bouares who doubled up through Carpentier-Perrault again. After the hand, Carpentier-Perrault was left with just 3,400 chips.

Cynn Finally Gaining Traction

Level 3 : 200/400, 400 ante
John Cynn
John Cynn

Defending champion John Cynn's day has been anything but smooth, dipping to a low point of about 10,000. However, a pot late Level 3 has pushed Cynn above 20,000.

The flop read {q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and action checked to the player on the button who bet 1,700. Cynn check-called from the small blind and the player in the hijack check-folded.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and both remaining players checked.

The river was the {7-Spades}, Cynn bet 4,200 and his opponent called.

Cynn tabled {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}, his opponent mucked and Cynn collected the pot.

The Razor Chipping Up

Level 3 : 200/400, 400 ante

With roughly 7,800 in the middle and the flop reading {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, John "The Razor" Phan bet out 3,300 from the small blind.

The player under the gun called, and when the turn fell the {7-Diamonds}, Phan bet 6,000 and his opponent called.

The river fell the {k-Diamonds} and Phan bet 10,000 and his opponent folded.

Pupillo Fortunate to Chop

Level 3 : 200/400, 400 ante

On a {4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} river, Nick Pupillo bet 4,400 and was called by an opponent. Pupillo held nine-high until that point but the straight on the board by the river, meant he chopped the pot when his opponent called with {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} in the hole.

Solano Tested By Barrera

Level 3 : 200/400, 400 ante

Maury Solano bet 6,200 on a {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} board, and Carlos Barrera responded with an all in shove for 51,800. Solano stood up, looking at the board and trying to piece together Barrera's big overbet.

"It's too much," Solano finally said, pushing his hand to the muck.

"Show the bluff! Show the bluff!" Barrera's tablemate chanted, but Barrera quietly mucked his hand, instead.
