Deveau Coolers Zarate on River

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

The board read {9-Hearts}{k-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and there was around 50,000 in the pot with action on Daniel Deveau in the small blind. He bet 40,000 into his opponent, Ivan Zarate, who was in middle position.

Zarate went into the tank and was seemingly in pain over the decision at hand. He stated that there was no way he was going to be able to fold and then stood up and continued to deliberate. Eventually, he tossed in chips to call.

Deveau tabled {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} for a rivered set of aces.

"Gah!" said Zarate as he turned over {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for a cracked set of kings and proceeded to walk about eight steps away. He circled back around as the table commented on the hand that just took place.

"You played it better than me," Deveau said.

"I guess so," Zarate responded.

"I don't know if I could find a fold on the turn," said Deveau.

"Nice hand," Zarate said as the dealer began to pitch the cards for the next hand and play continued.

Hansen Heroes

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen

There was about 18,000 in the middle of the table and the {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} board was out there. Gus Hansen had bet 8,000 out of position and he was raised to 23,000.

''Everything says fold and I still want to call'' Hansen said after thinking about it for a while. He eventually pulled the trigger and announced call which was immediately followed by his opponent saying ''nice call''.

Hansen's opponent showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and Hansen himself won with {k-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari

Ross Ward checked in a battle of the blinds on {2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Antonio Esfandiari bet 7,300 and Ward woke up with a check-raise to 22,000. Esfandiari peeled and Ward quickly shoved all in on the {7-Spades} river. Esfandiari folded just as quickly and Ward proudly showed his bluff: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

Boivin Gets Max Value

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Thomas Boivin opened from middle position and was called by the button and the big blind. The flop came {k-Spades}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts} and the action checked to the button who bet 3,000. The big blind folded and Boivin called.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and both players checked to the {8-Spades} on the river. Boivin led out for 30,000 this time, nearly two-times the pot. His opponent thought for a moment before making the call. Boivin turned over {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for quad tens while his opponent flashed a {k-} before his cards hit the muck.

Hu Chips Up Some More

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Jereme Cox limped in and David Hu raised to 4,000 in the small blind, which the big blind and Cox called. On the {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop, all three players checked and Hu check-called a bet of 5,000 by Cox on the {8-Clubs} turn. The {j-Clubs} river was checked and Hu tabled {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a full house, while Cox revealed {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}.

"No F***ing Way!"

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Lou "AP" Garza
Lou "AP" Garza

"Unbelievable! No f***ing way!"

A board of {2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} was on the felt, and Lou "AP" Garza's opponent in middle position was up from his seat in disbelief that his tournament was over, the result of Garza's {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} making a straight against the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} of the middle position opponent.

Garza shared the details of the hand with us, saying that on the flop, Garza raised a 6,000 bet from his opponent to 15,000, only for his opponent to three-bet to 47,500. Garza called, then jammed on the turn to commit his opponent, and he snap-called, but couldn't hold on against Garza's huge double draw.

Zautra Wins Pot After Clock Is Called On Opponent

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

With 10,000 already in the middle and a board showing {a-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Spades}, Nicholas Zautra jammed his remaining 20,400 stack after checking to his opponent who fired out 6,000.

His opponent went into a five-minute tank before the dealer called for a clock. After the clock was called, Zautra's opponent didn't take long before tossing his hand into the muck and Zautra raked in the pot.

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Cooler in Rojas' Favor

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Chino Rheem opened in middle position, Joseph Di Rosa Rojas three-bet to 8,000 in the cutoff and a third player shoved all in from the small blind for 43,000 or so. Rheem mucked but Rojas immediately called and then tabled {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}. He was up against {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and the {7-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Spades} board brought nothing to trouble him. He collected a double for 28,000.
