Bord Has All the Outs, Takes Out Yu

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante

Nicholas Yu was fighting for a pot of about 20,000 on the flop. Looking at a board of {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, he bet 13,000. In position, Adam Bord made the call.

The {10-Diamonds} hit the turn, Yu counted out his stack and decided to move it all in for about 30,000. Bord only thought for about five seconds before tossing in a call and cards were flipped over.

Nicholas Yu: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Adam Bord: {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

"Wow," said Yu, looking at all the outs he'd need to dodge. "Put an ace of spades out there," he requested.

He wasn't happy to make a set when the {k-Clubs} landed on the river to ship all of his chips across the table to Bord.

Rotholz Sets a Trap

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante

With the board showing {6-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{j-Spades} by the turn, Hal Rotholz bet 12,500 from the hijack and the player on the button tanked for a few moments before calling.

Rotholz checked dark as the {5-Diamonds} appeared on the river. His opponent quickly checked behind and Rotholz showed {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, laying the trap with a full house that the button didn't fall into.

D'Ambrosio Cracks Aces

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante
Jimmy D'Ambrosio
Jimmy D'Ambrosio

The details of this hand were provided to PokerNews after the fact by Jimmy D'Ambrosio.

D'Ambrosio opened to 2,000 from the cutoff. The button reraised to 8,000. D'Ambrosio called and the two went heads-up to the flop.

The flop came {5-}{6-}{7-}. D'Ambrosio checked to his opponent, who moved all in. D'Ambrosio called with his opponent covered.

Opponent: {a-}{a-}
D'Ambrosio: {3-Spades}{4-Spades}

D'Ambrosio was way out in front with his straight, and the runout provided no help to his opponent, who, as evident by the empty seat next to D'Ambrosio as he recounted the hand history, was eliminated.

Rast, Lichtenberger Side by Side

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante

Day 1 of the Main Event is usually a minefield of home game heroes and amateurs taking their one shot at poker glory. In such a large field, it was rare for two seasoned pros to be seated at the same table.

But that's just what has happened to seven unfortunate players at one table which includes Brian Rast and Andrew Lichtenberger sitting right beside each. The two of them have more than $35 million in combined live winnings and six WSOP bracelets.

Rast would take the last small pot they played against each other. He opened to 1,200 from under the gun and action folded around to Lichtenberger in the big blind, who called to see the {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop.

Lichtenberger checked as Rast put out a bet of 2,000. "LuckyChewy" quickly mucked as round one between these two accomplished pros went to Rast.
