Rodriguez Doubles Through Shi

Picking up the action on the river with a sizable pot already brewing, Jose Rodriguez on the button was involved in a hand with Ruoxiao Shi in late position.

With the board reading A8J66 Shi bet 15,000. Rodriguez responded by moving all in for 20,200 and was promptly called. Shi showed AK but came up second best against Rodriguez, who had a full house holding JJ to secure a full double, leaving Shi relatively short.

Michaud Runs Into Two Pair

Clément Michaud opened to 500 from middle position, then called after the cutoff three-bet to 1,500.

Both players checked the 678 flop to find the K turn where the cutoff bet 2,000. Michaud check-called.

The 4 river landed on the felt. Michaud checked, then the cutoff fired a second barrel of 5,000.

Michaud went into the tank and called, but threw his cards into the muck when the cutoff flipped over 87 for two pair.

Picking up the action on the flop, Hal Marcus in the big blind was involved in a hand with Michel Leibgorin in middle position.

With the board reading Q310 Marcus check-called a bet of 800 from Leibgorin.

Leibgorin bet again after Marcus checked to him on the 3 turn, this time making it 2,100. As before, Marcus called.

Neither player put any more chips in the pot following the 9 river with Marcus emerging best holding QJ to continue his solid start to the day.

Brauer's Aces are Good

Ryan Brauer limped in from under the gun before the big blind raised to 700. Brauer reraised to 2,200 and his opponent called.

Brauer continued for 1,600 on 853 and the big blind made the call.

Action went check-check on the Q turn before the big blind bet the minimum of 200 on the 3 river. Brauer called and tabled AA for the winner. The big blind showed 87 before mucking.

Difurio Calls Down Blunier in Four-Way Pot

There was around 10,000 in the pot as four players went to the turn on a board of 1036J. Urs Blunier then bet 6,000 from the hijack and was called by the cutoff, Glenn Difurio in early position, and another opponent in middle position.

The river was the 9 and Blunier bet another 8,000. Only Difurio called this time.

"Ace-ten," Blunier said, but Difurio showed KJ for a pair of jacks as he took the pot.

"I thought for sure somebody had a set," tablemate and 2009 November Niner Steven Begleiter added.
