Gibson Sets a Trap

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

A player waved over PokerNews to his table.

“Looking for a story?” the player asked, and then pointed to Toby Gibson in Seat 9.

Gibson chuckled and pulled out his phone to show a photo of a hand, which rewarded him with a full double up.

Gibson explained he raised preflop with 108 and the photo showed a runout of 8109104, giving Gibson a full house of tens full of eights.

Gibson said the fireworks happened on the river after he checked. He said his opponent then moved all in for a little more than 200,000, which covered Gibson’s chip stack. But it was an easy call for Gibson and his full house.

So, what did his opponent have?

Gibson reached down to his phone and enlarged the photo to show 32 tabled on the other side of the dealer.

“I caught a player trying to bluff,” Gibson said with a grin.

Bal Busts Lynn

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Peter Lynn raised to 2,500 in the cutoff and was three-bet to 7,500 by Manpreet Bal in the small blind. Lynn called.

Bal continued for 13,300 on the J310 flop and Lynn announced he was all in for a bit over 40,000. Bal asked for a count and called to put Lynn at risk.

Peter Lynn: KQAll in
Manpreet Bal: QQ

Lynn had plenty of outs with his king and open-ended straight draw, but the 86 runout kept Bal best to send Lynn to the rail.
