Johan Schumacher opened from under the gun to 2,500 and Kevin Macphee called from the cutoff. Jose Guilher Valerio also called on the button and Mohsin Charania defended the big blind.
Charania and Schumacher checked the 9♥Q♠6♠ flop and Macphee bet 7,800. Valerio folded and Charania moved all in for his remaining 25,000. Macphee was the only caller and the players flipped heads-up.
Mohsin Charania: Q♥9♣
Kevin Macphee: Q♣Q♦
Charania was sitting with two pair, but Macphee flopped trip queens.
There was no luck for Charania on the K♠ turn and 6♣ river, and he was eliminated from the tournament just after the second break of the day.
Matt Salsberg defended the big blind in three-way action and then jammed the J♣5♠4♦ flop for the last 9,800. It folded to Gregory Zarefes, who reluctantly folded. Salsberg picked up the pot and moved to around 15 big blinds but lost these shortly after.
Rafael Pfleger raised to 15,000 in the hijack, leaving only a few chips behind, and Taras Mikulik moved all in from the small blind. The table folded back to Pfleger who tossed in his last chips.
Rafael Pfleger: K♥10♥
Taras Mikulik: 8♥8♣
Plfeger needed to survive the flip to stay alive, but he couldn't connect with the Q♠3♥4♦3♦4♥ board and was sent to the rail.
David Yonnotti and Joseph Bishop were the only two players contesting a pot, with 32,000 in the middle. They arrived to the turn with the board reading Q♥2♥3♦A♦ and Bishop had the all in button in front of him. Covered, Yonnotti had to make a decision for his tournament life, and he ultimately landed on a call.
David Yonnotti: A♥5♥
Joseph Bishop: J♥10♥
Yonnotti had top pair, the nut flush draw, and a gutshot. Bishop had an inferior flush draw, but a better gutshot. That being said, only a non-heart king would give him the knockout. "You have me, good game, man," said Bishop, making what came next all the more painful. The K♣ peeled off on the river, as "Woah!" could be heard around the table. Yonnotti left gracefully, offering a "GG" to his table.
Rene Von Reden three-bet to 10,000 in the small blind before Renmei Liu four-bet to 33,400 in middle position. Vonreden then moved all in for 120,000 and Liu called.
Rene Von Reden: A♦K♣
Renmei Liu: A♣A♥
Liu had woken up with aces with a massive pot at stake. Vonreden got some outs on the K♠10♠7♠ flop with a pair, but he improved no further on the 9♦ turn and Q♠ river as Liu scored the knockout.
