Busquet Knocks Collins Down Then Out

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Megan Collins took a major hit from Olivier Busquet, when the two had almost equal stacks, and she had AK and he had AA.

The runout gave her a pair of kings but could not crack his aces and she was left with only 1,000 chips.

A few hands later, Olivier Busquet raised from middle position and Collins went all in from the cutoff.

Megan Collins: K10All in
Olivier Busquet: A9

The hand ended on the turn, as the runout 10326J gave Busquet a flush and the win.

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Jonathan Jaffe
Jonathan Jaffe

Action was picked up on the flop in a pot between Jonathan Jaffe on the button and Peter Bloch in the cutoff with 13,900 in the center.

The flop read AA7 and Bloch checked over to Jaffe who bet 4,000. Bloch raised to 16,000 and Jaffe continued in the hand.

On the turn 5, Bloch moved all in for 80,200 and Jaffe went into the tank.

"Are we chopping?" asked Bloch.

"It's kind of hard to chop this one," replied Jaffe as he thought about his decision.

Eventually he folded and flashed Bloch an A. Bloch responded in kind by showing an A from his own hand as he raked in the pot.

A 7 was turned and Collopy check-called Saravia's 4,500 bet.

The 8 well on the river and Collopy check-raised to 25,000 after Saraiva bet 6,000.

Spirins Calls Correctly with Aces

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Pavels Spirins raised to 1,600 in early position and was called by David Nathaniel in the big blind. The flop came 542 and Nathaniel check-called a bet of 3,200 from Spirins.

The turn brought the 8 and Nathaniel check-called another bet of 8,500 from Spirins. The 6 completed the board and Nathaniel led out with a bet of 18,000. Spirins sunk into his chair and deliberated for a minute before making the call.

Nathaniel turned over K5 for just a pair of fives while Spirins held AA to claim the pot.

Foxen's Seven Minute Tank

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Kristen Foxen
Kristen Foxen

The action was joined as Antony Cragg and Kristen Foxen were contesting a pot worth roughly 14,000.

The flop action was already complete with K106 on their backs in the middle.

The dealer burned and turned the 5 turn card, and Cragg continued for a bet of 12,100, which Foxen called.

Both players then saw the J complete the board, and Cragg kept his foot firmly on the accelerator, moving all in. Foxen was the shorter of the two stacks, with roughly 50,000 remaining.

Foxen went deep into the tank. Stuck in an unenviable position so early on Day 2, she took seven minutes before reaching a decision. She returned her cards to the dealer face down, but did let Cragg know she had folded a set of sixes.

Mermelstein Off to Rocket Start

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Aaron Mermelstein, who registered at the start of the day and had taken the seat of the busted Brendan Loftus, was on the button and involved in a pot against Yaroslav Shkliar in the big blind.

Shkliar and Mermelstein had reached the river on the 3Q92Q board, with 51,000 already in the pot. Shkliar checked to Mermelstein, who settled on a bet of 33,000.

Shkliar did not need much time before he tossed in a call, but he sighed and mucked his cards when Mermelstein showed A5 for the nut flush.

Wong Applies the Pressure

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Tai Cao raised from middle position to 1,600 and found calls from Patrik Jaros in late position and Russell Thomas in the cutoff. Tiffany Wong on the button then decided to pump it up and three-bet to 7,200. All players folded apart from Thomas.

The flop came 92K, and Thomas checked to Wong, who fired out a continuation bet of 6,700. Thomas thought for a short while before he mucked his cards, sending the pot to Wong uncontested.

Shaffer More Than Doubles; Knocks Out Stellato

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Joseph Stellato was all-in for 10,100 from the cutoff and Day 2 entry Jacob Edelstein called on the button. Brett Shaffer then reraised to 20,000 in the big blind and Edelstein called.

On the J96 flop, Shaffer jammed for 21,500 and Edelstein snap-called.

Joseph Stellato: AA All in
Brett Shaffer: KK All in
Jacob Edelstein: 87

The K turn improved Shaffer to a set of kings and the J river changed nothing, as Stellato bowed out with a bad beat story to tell.
