Tony Gregg was in the hijack when he raised to 80,000. Viktor Blom then put in his stack of 905,000 from the hijack, which Gregg called after careful consideration.
Viktor Blom: 8♥8♦
Tony Gregg: A♥Q♠
Gregg paired his ace on the K♣A♣K♦ flop, leaving Blom with two outs in the deck. Neither the J♣ turn nor the 2♦ river could save Blom, who said his goodbyes from the feature table before leaving the tournament area.
In a battle of the blinds, Nicholas Danias clashed with Ryan Law in a duel of short stacks to create the following showdown.
Ryan Law: A♥K♦
Nicholas Danias: A♣Q♥
The board ran out 9♠4♥2♠K♥6♦ and Danias' stack was reduced below ten big blinds.
"Get ready, as I will be all in very soon," Danias suggested and kept that promise soon after when he had the ace-king.
Unfortunately for him, Eric Bunch woke up with the A♦A♥ behind and there were no paint cards on the board for Danias to bust.
"You did nothing wrong," another player at the table exclaimed and Ran Ilani chimed in "I don't know, I would fold the ace-king" albeit with a smirk on the face.
Chih Fan opened to 120,000 from the small blind with A♥5♠ and Adam Hendrix defended from the big blind with 6♦5♦.
The flop came 2♦4♥8♥. Fan bet 105,000 and Hendrix called.
Fan continued for 250,000 on the K♦ turn. Hendrix shoved his combo draw, covering Fan who had 1,000,000 behind. Fan mucked his hand and the pot was pushed to Hendrix.
Richard Buckingham and Juan Carlos Vecino checked to the turn on a board of K♣Q♠2♥6♣ in a blind versus blind battle before Buckingham led out for 150,000. Vecino called and the 2♦ fell on the river.
Buckingham then bet 200,000, but this time Vecino raised to 500,000. "I have a good hand," Buckingham said as he took a few minutes before calling.
Vecino showed A♠Q♣ for top pair, but Buckingham had Q♥6♥ for queens and sixes to win the pot.
The hand before, Buckingham had taken out Paul DiMascio in a massive pot and filled in the details. DiMascio had opened to 85,000 from early position and Buckingham defended his big blind.
The flop brought 4x3x2x and DiMascio continued for 160,000. Buckingham called and a 5x fell on the turn. DiMascio then moved all in for 1,800,000.
"I couldn't believe he did it. I feel bad for him, because I know he has the ace," Buckingham explained, saying he called with 6x4x for a straight while DiMascio had Ax9x and was sent to the rail.
Michael Mizrachi opened to 85,000 from early position, Yves Hallague three-bet shoved for 530,000 from the cutoff and Alan Mehamed called with his stack of 390,000 from the small blind. Mizrachi called, covering both players.
Alan Mehamed: A♦Q♦
Yves Hallague: 10♠10♥
Michael Mizrachi: A♠K♦
Hallague was in great shape to triple up on the 7♥5♠J♥ flop but Mehamed took the lead with top pair on the Q♣ turn. He remained ahead on the 9♥ river to triple up while Hallague was left with just seven big blinds.
A series of bets was the action preflop as Conrado Francisco opened to 80,000. Giorgiy Skhulukhiya raised to 200,000 from the cutoff. Ruben Correia four-bet to 425,000 before Francisco five-bet to 800,000 even leaving only 95,000 back. Skhulukhiya folded before Correia just called.
The players got the remaining 95,000 in on the flop of Q♣7♥10♣ to put Francisco at risk.
Conrado Francisco: K♦K♥
Ruben Correia: A♣A♦
It was a cooler in Correia's favor as the 4♣ came on the turn, but the river had other intentions as the K♠ peeled on the river to give Francisco a set of kings to crack Correia's aces.
Maksim Pisarenko raised under the gun to 85,000 before Alexander Villa jammed for 450,000 from the button. Once the blinds folded, Pisarenko called.
Alexander Villa: K♦Q♦
Maksim Pisarenko : A♦Q♠
Villa was dominated by Pisarenko heading to the A♠K♥10♠ flop, which improved both players to a pair. The 6♠ fell on the turn, taking away a few of Villa's outs. The 10♥ came on the river, and Villa was gone from the Main Event.
Kohei Arai opened to 80,000 in early position and Rahul Deevara three-bet to 240,000 on the button. Arai called and they went heads-up to a flop of 10♥7♠3♣.
Arai checked to Deevara who continued with a bet of 130,000 and Arai called to see the 3♥ on the turn. Arai checked again and Deevara splashed in a bet of 400,000. Arai mulled it over but decided to send his cards to the muck.
