Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Cassandra Yong
Cassandra Yong

Gary Blackwood opened to 1,400 from middle position and was three-bet to 5,000 by Cassandra Yong in the big blind. Blackwood responded with a four-bet to 11,500 and Yong five-bet to 25,000. Blackwood called.

The rest of Yong's 86,200 in chips went into the middle on the K109 flop and Blackwood called with a covering stack for a massive showdown.

Cassandra Yong: KKAll in
Gary Blackwood: AA

Yong had flopped a set against Blackwood's aces, and the 46 runout changed nothing — awarding a massive double-up for Yong and knocking Blackwood down to just 21,000.

Scott Stewart
Scott Stewart

Jacob Naquin raised to 1,300 from under the gun, with Scott Stewart calling in middle position, Matthew Blagg calling on the button, and Jorge Rios calling from the small blind.

After two checks on the Q62 flop, Stewart fired 2,000. Only Blagg and Rios called.

The 10 turn and 4 river checked through between the three remaining players, and Stewart tabled 99 for a pair of nines, which was good enough to earn him the pot.

Gaetan Balleur raised to 1,300 from early position and found one caller in Andreas Christoforou in the big blind.

Christoforou check-called a 1,700 bet from Balleur on the K3A flop, but check-folded facing a hefty 7,500 barrel from Balleur on the 8 turn.

Big Pots Passed

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Martin Gerloff
Martin Gerloff

Martin Gerloff was in the small blind and already in a huge 50,000 pot against Jacob Steede who was sitting in late position.

The pair were looking at a 636106 board and Gerloff had bet out 40,000. Steede tanked for over a minute before moving all in for his remaining 84,000. Garloff sat back in his chair to contemplate his decision before opting to give up his hand.

On a table just across there was a similar situation brewing as there was a pot of around 30,000 that had accumulated to get Mark Watson and Glenn Becker to the river.

The pair were looking at the A69109 board and Becker had bet 17,000 on the river and action was on Watson to either call or fold. Watson went into the tank but found a call and tabled his AJ for two pair. It wasn't enough as Becker showed his 66 for the boat.

Heaton Virtually Doubles

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

With the turn showing 974A, Kenneth Heaton checked and then called a bet of 15,500 by Iaron Lightbourne for a decent percentage of the pot until then.

The J followed on the river and Heaton checked again. Lightbourne now bet 50,000 and Heaton took a short while before he declared all-in for little more, Lightbourne instantly folded and then murmured that his opponent "has to have it".

Das Wins Three Ways

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Joining the action with a 959 flop face up on the felt, Sandipan Das checked in the big blind. Joshua Yoon then bet 1,500 from under the gun, which Cary Katz called. Das then put in a check-raise to 6,500, which Yoon called before Katz folded.

The 4 turn checked through, but the J river saw Das bet again. This time his bet of 16,000 went uncalled, as Yoon took a couple of minutes before returning his cards to the dealer.

Weihs Saves Tournament Life with Fold

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Ory Weihs opened the action from an early position. Guang Chen chose to reraise it to 4,100 from two seats over.

Jay Glass called on the button before Weihs put in four-bet to 11,100. Chen five-bet shoved to put Weihs to a decision for his tournament life.

Weihs gave it some thought before he folded QQ face up.

Chen responded in kind and tabled KK as Weihs potentially avoided a fatal call to crash and burn on Day 1b.

Shawn Savage
Shawn Savage

Pierre Bounahra limped from early position before Shawn Savage raised to 2,500 from the next seat. Pierre Bounahra called in the hijack, and the original limper also came along.

The dealer fanned the A7J flop, and after Bounahra checked, Savage fired out for 4,300. Both opponents quickly folded, allowing Savage to continue building his stack.

Zehavi Eliminates Bean

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

The cards were already on their backs with Michael Bean at risk from the cutoff, and he was covered by Osher Zehavi in the small blind.

There was a main pot of around 27,000 and a side pot of 40,400. Players were on the turn and looking at a 5832 board.

Zehavi had the all-in button in front of him and a few chips left. Bean had already committed his last chips to the pot before the turn. Another player had already given up on the turn, leaving the players to go heads-up at the showdown.

Michael Bean: Q10All in
Osher Zehavi: 1010

Zehavi was ahead and Bean was hoping for a queen on the river. The 5 completed the board and Bean hit the rail. Zehavi stacked up after the hand and sat with over double his starting stack.

Bad Board for Rawn

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Alexander Haro opened to 1,200 from early position and was three-bet to 4,500 by Elaine Rawn in middle position. Shaip Aqareva called cold in the hijack and Haro called as well for a bloated three-way pot.

Haro checked to Rawn, who continued for 7,000 on the 9810 flop. Aqareva called, but Haro folded.

The 7 fell on the turn and Rawn checked. Aqareva fired 19,000 into the middle and Rawn folded pocket kings face up — conceding the pot to Aqareva.
