Girouard Delivers Knockout Blow with Quads

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

This hand was recounted to PokerNews by a player at the table.

Javier Gonzalez raised to 1,200 before Steven Girouard three-bet to 5,200 in response. Vincento Dulepa opted to four-bet jam for approximately 12,800. Gonzalez folded before Girouard made the call to put Dulepa at risk.

Vincento Dulepa: 10x10xAll in
Steven Girouard: KK

Dulepa needed help, and his thin hopes of an upset were marginalized further on the AxK9x flop as Girouard flopped a set.

The scene got worse when the K hit the turn to improve Girouard to four of a kind, making the 8x river absolutely irrelevant.

Mike Matusow raised to 1,500 from middle position and was called by Michael Falk in the small blind and Carlos Da Rocha in the big blind for a three-way pot.

Action checked to Matusow, who continued for 3,100 on the 737 flop. Falk folded, but Da Rocha called.

Both players checked on the 8 turn and then Da Rocha fired 6,000 into the middle on the K river.

Matusow quickly tossed in a call and Da Rocha turned over J6 for a busted flush draw. Matusow revealed 1010 for tens-up and was sent the pot.

That's a Savage Quote Right There

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

The flop showed A88 and Bruno Soutavong check-called a bet of 6,500 by Shawn Savage which led them to the 7 on the turn. Both players checked to the Q river on which Soutavong led for 16,000. Savage raised it up to 51,000 and Soutavong reluctantly folded.

"Finally I win a f*cking hand against you," Savage told Soutavong who showed no reaction while several players at the table chuckled. Savage is near the very top of the leaderboard right now.

Buzzer Beater by Ruivo

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Alessio Isaia
Alessio Isaia

The action of the hand was recounted to PokerNews by a player at the table.

It was a three-bet pot preflop as both Manuel Ruivo from under the gun and Alessio Isaia from middle position put in 4,000 each.

The 8AJ flop led to a bet of 3,000 from Ruivo, and Isaia made the call.

Both players checked the Q turn to bring the 3 river. Isaia checked the river before Ruivo put out a bet of 5,500.

Isaia decided to play for it all as he responded with a check-raise all in for 43,300. Ruiva went into the tank as he considered the decision. Eventually, Isaia opted to call the clock on Ruiva.

The clock began ticking, and just as the clock ticked to one second, Ruiva slapped down two green chips on the table for a call.

Ruiva's last-second decision was the correct one as Isaia showed KQ for a pair of queens. Ruiva countered with AK to claim the pot and eliminate Isaia.

Perfect Set Piece Helps Pique Score a Double

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Gerard Pique

Alon Haddad made it 1,200 from early position and found three callers, including Charles Tipton in the hijack. Gerard Pique peeked down at his cards in the cutoff and squeezed to 7,500. Only Haddad and Tipton came along.

Three ways to the 1084 flop, the action checked to Pique, who fired a continuation-bet of 8,500. Haddad folded, but Tipton continued with a call.

When the J landed on the turn, Tipton asked to see Pique's stack, which totaled 26,900, before leading for 15,000. Pique stared at the board and looked visibly uncomfortable before eventually deciding to move all in. Tipton reluctantly flicked in a chip to call.

Gerard Pique: JJ All in
Charles Tipton: 99

Pique was well ahead with top set and only needed to dodge Tipton's straight outs to double to around 100,000.

The dealer burned and revealed the 4 to complete the board, and fortunately for the soccer legend, Tipton missed the net as the river paired the board, securing the double-up for Pique with a boat.

Steven van Zadelhoff raised to 1,200 in middle position, and Bret Hamm called in the small blind. Mario Chaves then three-bet to 3,700 in the big blind, which Van Zadelhoff called, but Hamm folded.

The action checked through on both the flop and turn of a 5623 board.

When Chaves checked for a third time on the K river, Van Zadelhoff opted to bet 4,000. Chaves then check-raised to 10,100, which, after some consideration, Van Zadelhoff called.

Chaves tabled AK, which was good for half of the pot, as Van Zadelhoff flipped over AK.
