Play Tightens Up

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

With little action getting to the flop, players have tightened up their play after the most recent elimination.

In a recent hand, Erwann Pecheux opened to 160,000 on the button, and Albert Calderon defended his big blind.

The Q4J flop was checked through to the 10 turn and 2 river. Calderon took the pot after betting out 225,000 on the river, forcing a fold from Pecheux.

A few hands later, Yaniv Peretz opened to 160,000 from the hijack and Kimon Fountoukidis defended from the big blind. The JQ8 flop was check-folded by Fountoukidis after Peretz moved out a 120,000 bet.

Dunaway with Kings

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Braxton Dunaway opened to 160,000 from under the gun and was only called by Ioannis Kapnopoulos in the cutoff.

Dunaway continued for 100,000 on the Q49 flop and was called, but checked the 2 turn. Kapnopoulos seized this opportunity to bet 330,000. Dunaway eventually made the call.

The A river was checked by both players, so Dunaway quickly flipped over his KK. Kapnopoulos mucked his cards.

Alavez Picks Up

Level 26 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Briant Alavez opened to 120,000 from the cutoff, and Yaniv Peretz called on the button. Erwann Pecheux also defended from the small blind, taking the players three-way to the flop.

The dealer placed the J8Q flop, and action checked around to the Q turn. Pecheux checked to Alavez, who asked for 200,000. This was enough to take the pot and give him a small chip-up.

Sami Bechahed Eliminated in 8th Place ($29,600)

Level 26 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Sami Bechahed

Action slowly folded around the table to Braxton Dunaway who opened to 120,000 on the button. Sami Bechahed moved all in from the big blind for his remaining ~880,000 and Dunaway snap called.

Braxton Dunaway: A9

Bechahed needed to improve to stay in the tournament, and things were looking up after he found a queen on the 53Q flop.

His lead didn't last long, though, as Dunaway stole back the pot after hitting his flopped flush draw on the K turn. It did give Bechahed a chance to hunt down a boat, but the 9 river card wasn't any help, and he was sent to the rail in eighth place.

Calderon Scoops a Big Pot with Aces

Level 26 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Three-way on a flop of 23Q, both Braxton Dunaway in the big blind and Sami Bechahed in early position checked. Albert Calderon in the cutoff bet 275,000. Dunaway folded, but Bechahed made the call.

Both players checked the 3 turn, leading to the 7 river. Bechahed bet 300,000, and Calderon went into the tank.

He counted his stack twice and raised to 1,000,000, keeping only 200,000 behind. "Sevens?" Bechahed asked as he started to count his stack as well.

He eventually made the call but immediately sent his cards into the muck when Calderon flipped over AA.
