Kartalyan Doubles Through Foxen With Rockets

Level 5 : 300/300, 500 ante
Artashes Kartalyan
Artashes Kartalyan

Artashes Kartalyan raised to 1,500 from late position and was called by the hijack player before Alex Foxen three-bet to 6,600 on the button.

After the blinds folded, both Kartalyan and the hijack player called, bringing about the {3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop.

Action was checked to Foxen who continued for 6,600 and Kartalyan raised all in for 8,400. The hijack player folded while Foxen called and the two players tabled their hands.

Alex Foxen: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Artashes Kartalyan: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

Both players flopped the wheel draw but Kartalyan was ahead with his pocket aces and neither the {9-Clubs} turn nor the {j-Clubs} river changed a thing.

2020 WSOP Champ Damian Salas Survives

Level 5 : 300/300, 500 ante
Damian Salas
Damian Salas

Damian Salas, who last December won the online-live hybrid 2020 WSOP Main Event, got his last 15,200 all in preflop and was racing for his Wynn Millions tournament life.

Damian Salas: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Salas was ahead and looking to hold to stay alive. The {9-Spades}{j-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop kept him out in front, while the {q-Clubs} turn improved his lot by giving him a set. However, the Argentinean wasn't out of the woods as his opponent had a gutshot Broadway straight draw to a ten.

Fortunately for Salas, the {8-Hearts} river was harmless and he scored the double.

Kilavuz Collects the Rest of Nguyen's Chips

Level 5 : 300/300, 500 ante
Arman Kilavuz
Arman Kilavuz

Arman Kilavuz raised to 1,000 from middle position and Wendy Nguyen, who lost most of her stack to Ian Matakis minute earlier, three-bet jammed for roughly 10,000 from the button. Both blinds folded and Kilavuz called.

Arman Kilavuz: {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Wendy Nguyen: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

It was a flip but Nguyen needed to improve to stay alive. The {2-Spades}{k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} flop gave Nguyen a Broadway straight draw to go with her overs, but she missed as the {4-Hearts} bricked on the turn followed by the {9-Diamonds} on the river.

Garza Wins With Top Pair

Level 5 : 300/300, 500 ante

Ap Louis Garza raised to 1,400 from middle position and was called by the button player.

The {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop was checked by both players bringing the {q-Hearts} turn. Garza led out for 2,000 and his opponent called to see the {2-Clubs} complete the board on the river.

Garza fired out a bet of 3,000, his opponent called and Garza rolled over {q-Spades}{10-Spades} to win the pot.

Minnesota's Matakis Doubles Big Through Nguyen

Level 5 : 300/300, 500 ante
Ian Matakis
Ian Matakis

The preflop action escaped us but we do know a raising war resulted in Minnesota's Ian Matakis, fresh off winning an online WSOP Circuit ring, got his stack of approximately 40,000 all in against Wendy Nguyen, who barely had him covered.

Ian Matakis: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Wendy Nguyen: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Matakis had the better pocket pair and it held firm as the board ran out a clean {j-Spades}{a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{9-Spades}.

Koon Puts Baldwin to the Test

Level 5 : 300/300, 500 ante

Jason Koon raised to 1,200 from early position and action quickly folded around to Eric Baldwin who defended his big blind.

The dealer dropped a {9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{j-Hearts} flop and Baldwin check-called the 800 continuation bet from Koon. The {10-Clubs} peeled off on the turn and both players checked bringing the {4-Clubs} river.

Baldwin led out for 1,400 and Koon raised to 7,000. Baldwin spent some time in the tank but ultimately folded and Koon collected the pot.
