    Greg Raymer - 3rd Place
    Greg Raymer - 3rd Place

    Hand #113 - Greg Raymer Eliminated in 3rd Place ($774,927)

    Show This Hand
    Greg Raymer has the button in Seat 5. He raises to 400,000, Lunkin folds, and Haxton three-bets to 1,250,000. Raymer responds by moving all in for 8,105,000 and Haxton calls, having him slightly covered.

    Raymer {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}
    Haxton {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}

    With the crowd on their feet and Raymer calling "Presto", the flop comes down {K-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades}. The turn is the {3-Hearts}, the river is the {3-Diamonds} and Greg Raymer is eliminated in third place to a rousing ovation. Even the dealer gives him a round of applause.

    Before exiting the stage, Raymer autographs the shiny fossil he had been using as a card capper and gifts it to Haxton.

    Could Hardly Be Closer

    Somewhat incredibly, all three players have almost exactly 8 million chips. Greg Raymer has 8.025 million, Vitaly Lunkin 8.01 million, and Isaac Haxton 7.98 million.

    The money in the middle preflop (300,000) is more than what separates all three at the moment.

    Updated Chip Counts

    The remaining players are almost even in chips as we begin three-handed play:

    "It Doesn't Get Any Easier"

    Following the elimination of Dani Stern, Greg Raymer commented to Isaac Haxton and Vitaly Lunkin on the relative toughness of the shrinking field:

    "The problem is, you guys are knocking the tough players out, but it doesn't get any easier."

    Indeed, it was an especially tough field with 201 players left. It was still tough with nine. And it remains so with three.
