The RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) is taking its Golden Expedition to Missouri for RGPS Golden Expedition Joplin, a stop at Downstream Casino Resort that will take place Sept. 15-20.
The RGPS Golden Expedition Joplin stop will feature a handful of ring events and will culminate with the $700 buy-in Main Event with a $150,000 guarantee attached. PokerNews will be on-site to live report the Main Event action.
Win a Ring Downstream
Downstream Casino has an outdoor attraction, and it isn't a rollercoaster like many casinos in Las Vegas. The property is home to a rare white buffalo, who bares no relation to the Buffalo slot machines popular with many poker players.
Inside the casino, the series will kick off on Sept. 15 with a $300 Seniors Ring Event and a $300 Opening Day Ring event, followed by the first of three flights in the $300 PokerNews PowerStack, a $25,000 guaranteed event that will play to a winner on Sept. 17.
The $700 Main Event will feature four starting flights starting on Sept. 17 and will play to a winner on Sept. 20. The same day, a $400 Black Chip Bounty NLH Ring Event will close out the series.
Additionally, there will be $150 Flip and Go events taking place on demand throughout the series.
Last Time in Joplin
Earlier this year, the RGPS Passport Joplin Main Event drew 752 runners for a prize pool of $379,760.
In that event, Cody Hughey, a former manager at Hard Rock Tulsa and longtime RunGood player, defeated heads-up opponent William Romine to win $67,940 and his first RunGood title.
“I’ve been around Tulsa poker for a long time, whether it’s as a manager working with (RGPS founder) Tana (Karn) or as a player,” Hughey told PokerNews in April. “To watch it (RGPS) grow as much as it has, and to win a main event ring is very sweet. I had so many people in my corner rooting for me. It’s very special.”
The final table also included Kyle McConnell (3rd - $33,347), William Margo (4th - $24,857) and Jeff Copeland (5th - $18,738).
