Marcin Built a Bigger House Than Romanovich

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Marcin on
Marcin on

Team PokerStars Pro Marcin Horecki is up to around 40,000 chips after he and Yury Romanovich both rivered full houses; the Pole's being bigger though.

The hand started with a mid position raise from Tim Ludwig and calls from Romanovich on the button and Horecki and Praz Bansi in the blinds.

All three checked the {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop to go to the {q-Clubs} turn. It was folded around to Romanovich who bet 1,500, only for Horecki to raise it up to 4,100. Romanovich called but the other two folded.

The river came {6-Spades} and Horecki's 7,300 bet was called by the Russian holding {q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. It was no good though as Horecki tables {8-Spades}{9-Spades}.

Jacobson Wins Consecutive Pots

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Martin Jacobson, Season 7's Best Online Qualifier, has been near the top of the chip counts all day long and he still finds himself up there after winning two consecutive pots whilst in the blinds.

In the first hand Jacobson check-called Lasse Sorensen's 5,000 bet on a board reading {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{J-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and then both players checked the {8-Diamonds} on the river. Jacobson showed {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} which was enough to scoop the pot.

The very next hand everyone folded to Ville Kouri in the cutoff and he made it 1,100 to play. The button and small blind folded but Jacobson had other ideas and he put three red chips totalling 3,000 into the pot. Kouri eventually called and it was heads up to the {Q-Hearts}{A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} flop. Jacobson continued his aggression by betting 2,600 and after 30 seconds Kouri called.

The turn was the {J-Hearts} and Jacobson sat statuesque for almost two minutes before springing into action and firing a bet of 6,700 which was enough to force a fold from Kouri.

Jacobson is now up to 69,000

Richard Lost a Toth

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Richard Toth minus the cap he usually wears.
Richard Toth minus the cap he usually wears.

Team PokerStars Pro Richard Toth is down to 45,000 chips after he paid off Ville Salmi before mucking.

We approached the table as Toth was either calling a flop bet or calling a check-raise from Salmi. The flop was {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{a-Hearts} and Salmi was in the small blind and Toth the hijack. Both players checked the {k-Hearts} turn before the Finn led for 6,600 on the {q-Diamonds} river. Toth took his time before calling to see his opponent's {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

The Sun Shines For Sonelin

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
PokerStars qualifier David Sonelin
PokerStars qualifier David Sonelin

PokerStars qualifier David Sonelin utilised his ten kicker to double-up to 15,000 chips through Pasi Sormunen
.
We're not sure how the action went down but most of the chips went in on the turn when the board read {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{6-Spades}.

Sormunen said, "I need some help" and tabled {a-Spades}{7-Spades}.

Sonelin was sheepish as he tabled {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} but then was happy to see he was good. The ten played after the river came {j-Clubs}.

Ville Salmi Gets Aggressive

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Ville Salmi has been trying to throw his weight around his table with some aggressive moves. On a flop of {q-Clubs} {j-Clubs} {10-Hearts} he checked the action to poor Phidias Georgious who bet 2,650 from the button. Salmi asked him for a count and Georgious moved out of the way to give Salmi a good look at his stack, which was around 10,000. Salmi then flung around 25,000 into the middle and Georgious folded his hand.

Salmi was still organising his chip stack when he paused briefly to check his cards and made a raise of 950 from early position. There were two callers before Team PokerStars pro Richard Toth made the three-bet, we are unsure what the actual amount was but he certainly had 3,800 in chips in front of him. Salmi then four-bet to 6,250 forcing the two callers out of the pot and everyone stared at Toth. Toth dragged his original 3,800 back into his arms and replaced it with 6,250 for the call.

Flop: {6-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {3-Spades}

Toth checked to Salmi who bet 5,025 and Toth called.

The turn of the {q-Hearts} and the river of the {k-Diamonds} were both checked and when the cards were over-turned it was Toth who won the pot.

Toth{a-Hearts} {k-Spades}
Salmi{a-Diamonds} {q-Clubs}

Salmi ~ 25,000
Toth ~ 60,000

Brito's Run-Good Continues

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

The EPT's current Player of the Year, Fernando Brito, has been on an amazing run for the past 18 months and it looks set to continue if today is anything to go by. He always seems to have the goods whenever the chips go flying in and that was certainly the case in a hand over on Table 1.

Mathew Frankland opened the betting by making it 900 to play from late position. The action folded around to Brito, in the small blind, and he made the call as did Marton Czuczor in the big blind. The dealer put out the {4-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop and all three players checked. The {Q-Spades} saw Brito lead out for 2,200, Czuczor quickly called but Frankland got out of the way.

The river saw the {6-Spades} make an appearance and Brito once again bet, this time 3,000 and was quickly called by Czuczor. Brito turned over {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for trip nines, and Czuczor mucked.
