Avigal Drills the Turn, Eliminates a Player

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Meir Avigal
Meir Avigal

Meir Avigal alerted PokerNews to an early hand that has vaulted him toward the chip lead.

According to Avigal, he opened to 14,000 in the hijack with {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and received calls from the players in the blinds.

On a flop of {k-}{j-}{3-}, Avigal continued for 25,000, only receiving a call from Milan Aloric in the big blind.

A {q-} fell on the turn, giving Avigal his straight, and he bet 70,000. Aloric shoved over top for approximately 170,000, which Avigal snap-called.

Aloric turned over {q-}{j-}, and an inconsequential {2-} fell on the river to vault Avigal's stack over 800,000.

Costas Boosts His Stack Early

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Andrea Ricci raised to 17,000 from under the gun, chip leader Maxime Costas and Nikolai Tulin called in middle position, and Denis Kevric called in the big blind.

The four players saw a flop of {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and the action checked through.

The turn brought the {k-Spades} and after Kevric checked, Ricci bet 22,000. Costas responded with a raise to 65,000, which received folds back to Ricci, who took a brief moment to think before also folding.

Lee Finds a Big Early Double

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

With a large pot growing in the middle and {q-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs} on the board, Kim Wittendorff bet 41,500 from middle position and Junhui Lee shoved 169,000 into the middle. Wittendorff was deep into the take before emerging with the call.

Lee turned over {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for the straight and Wittendorff flipped his {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} with a disappointed look. The river was of no consequence and Lee found a big double early in Day 2.

Oustampasidis Ousted by Wiecek

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Piotr Wiecek
Piotr Wiecek

The board read {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} with around 50,000 in the middle already.

Piotr Wiecek had bet first before Charilaos Oustampasidis decided to shove for around 65,000 for Wiecek to snap-call.

Charilaos Oustampasidis: {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Piotr Wiecek: {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Oustampasidis had flopped two pair and turned the full house but saw he was drawing dead as Wiecek had hit quads on the turn.

Before the river even completed the board, Oustampasidis got up from his chair to make his way to the payout desk.
